Grant Molison Drops the "F" Bomb ?

What's up with State Police Lt. Grant Molison?
During the 9 AM News on WRKO Molison gave his usual traffic report and then dropped the F Bonb:
"Everything was all F'd up " he said.

The newscast resumed as if nothing happened.

Tough Monday I guess.

This doesn't surprise me at all about the F-bomb, the only thing that surprises me is that it hasn't happened until now!

I worked with him years ago... off the air he has the most foul mouth you've ever heard... he's also not a very nice man... honestly not trying to slam him, but just being honest, he was very mean to all of us who worked with him. It was years ago and I still have never gotten over how mean he was to not only me, but particularly a few other people too.

Do we - the public - pay his salary to be on the radio and is he on the WRKO payroll?

The question you should be asking is, "Does anybody have tape of that?"

The question really is: who does Molison work for? WRKO, Metro Traffic. State Police or all?

I have to admit I'm laughing at this scenario... hey, s**t happens sometimes!

not only does S**T happen, but so does $%##*, !@%*+ and even %&&$#!

and yes, laughing here, too.

actually, when DA BIG ONE slips such as that, it's usually not noticed by "regular listeners." most listeners will, for a moment, scratch their head and say to themselves: "did he just...???? nah."

as far as the not nice thing: he was always cordial and kind to me many many years ago (back when he was baby statetrooper/trafficreporter).

WRKO'S SILENCE IS DEAFENING

Does WRKO hope this FCC offenseable incident will just go away if the ignor it.
Would this have happened if Carbery were still there?

It's a "B", not an "F"!

Many times over the years, I've heard Grant say, "The Expressway is all BUCKED up", or "The Lower Deck of 93 is all BUCKED up", not F**KED up!

It's made me double-take a few times. It sounds a lot like F**KED up, but he's saying BUCKED up, as if the cars are all in a big game of "Buck-Buck".

There's even a definition for the word "Bucked" in the dictionary for that meaning:

Bucked (archaic): To butt up against.

In other words, the cars are all butted up against each other.

Eli,
You're right, I have heard the same thing "BUCKED UP". The first few times, I've done a double take. But, its never been the F* word. Let's just say that Grant Molleson is one of the most *unique* traffic reporters that I've ever heard...

Just a WORD - and Grant's OK.

Everyone makes mistakes, look at how you spelled BOMB - you spelled BoNb. And, it seems that Grant didn't even use that word.

But even if he slipped once in thousands of reports, who really cares? It's not an "on purpose" statement. Not said to improve ratings or titillate or anything. What if the chopper took a severe dip during the report and he uttered an expletive? There is a big difference between that and the protections and intent of the FCC indecency rules. Good grief, it's just a word. Not one used in my house but I sure hear 4 letter words flying when I hear some kids in schools or malls. And some posts almost sound like the kids saying, "Oh he said a dirty word".

I can dig out a few airchecks of the "F bomb" that slipped out over the last 25+ years on major market stations (some from "logger tapes" with mediocre fidelity). The licensee takes all reasonable precautions to prevent such happenings and, if obscenities do make it to air they are obliged to STOP broadcasting those obscenities. Nothing is perfect.

I've met Grant and knew many who worked with him. They have all been positive about Grant. Nice fellow. Only complaint I heard was that one PD kept wanting Grant to make his reports exactly 60 seconds. Like that works on an icy morning commute or when there are more than the usual number of traffic problems.

I don't know what the current arrangement is between Grant and WRKO. A dozen years ago I think Grant was employed and paid by the State Police. His reports were available to any and all stations that wished to participate in supplying his air based vantage point (used by Grant to report to State Police). At least that's what I recall.

Grant gets a thumbs UP. <P ID="signature">______________

I haven't seen him in years, perhaps he's changed.. all I can tell you is that he wouldn't even talk to several of his co-workers.. especially one of the traffic reporters who was in the copter with him (a name you would probably know).. he also wrote this same co-worker a TICKET one night when he didn't stop long enough at a stop sign when leaving the airport.

Another time, when a co-worker was in a car accident on the way to the airport, Grant called the boss and tried to get the poor guy fired because his accident meant that the copter was about 5 minutes late getting up in the air that morning.

There are countless examples, some that would probably get him fired if they ever got out. I witnessed most of them first-hand. He was pretty mean to me too, but not quite as bad as this other guy. He was always nice to the people at the radio stations, just not his co-workers.

Re: Just a WORD - and Grant's OK.

Well, maybe Grant needs a "verbal" spell check... Wish they had a "written" spell check here because my computer types mistakes....
I am not saying that any action should be taken against Molison but for a station the professes to be the conservative and moral arbiter of Boston it was surprising to hear "F'd up" or as some say " Bucked up" during a normal traffic report. If his copter were in trouble I would hope I would hear him utter a prayer rather than an expletive. Sadly WEEI - the orginal WEEI - lost a traffic reporter in the late 60's when the copter crashed at Ruccitto Quarries in Quincy. Let's hope and pray that never happens again.
