Grant Woods

Bruce St. James, as expected, is no longer on KTAR. Grant Woods has been filling in.

Many of us recall the great Grant Woods experiment on KFYI a few years ago. Not great radio, but not awful, either.

Any chance Grant goes full time on KT'R?
Edited by buster2 on 08/18/05 10:35 PM.

Only for enough time to get some voter recognition. He's about due to run for something.

He fits better politically on KTAR than KFYI anyway.

He's been only one of many fill-ins on the afternoon slot....JAy Lawrence, Ted Simons, Jonathan Elias and John Hook have all taken a turn in the chair.

Supposedly there is a "Nationwide Search" to find the permanent host.

Dear God, not Grant Woods again.

I'd rather hear kittens being strangled than one more minute of that buffoon.
Edited by legend_city on 08/19/05 01:14 AM.

I thought Grant was on KTAR a few years ago... complete with the truly awful Woody Awards.

How does he fit his ego into the studio, anyway?
______________

Too bad. I, for one, enjoyed Bruce St. James.

After Gerald and Jay Lawrence, Grant Woods would be a close third for the most pompous host on KTAR. If we wanted to go with pompous and condescending, we could add the man with a voice for newspaper, Leibowitz.

Famino had a good idea with the Voice to America show, sad thing is, his ham handed hosting made it sound like a life long jock who went to community college and thought he knew the world.

A more worldly accomplished host could pull it off, not Tony.

Paging Dr. Akbar, Paging Dr. Akbar...

Where is our dear friend and Nurse Jeff on this thread? He needs to breath some sarcasm into this topic!

Please Doctor, let your voice be heard on this. I anxiously await your words of commentary. Thank you in advance.

True. Worse yet, he seems to accept any idea that comes out of the Bush camp. If Bush proposed pulling out of the UN and joining the Galactic Federation, Tony would be railing against countries that didn't agree with the scheme on his next show.

I wouldn't care much either way about his politics, if he did his show in an intelligent, sophisticated way. But he tried to do that, except that the jock mentality oozed out too often, and it was pretty embarassing to listen to him talk that way when he has a guest from another country on.

Like I said, its a great idea for a show, it just needs a better host.

We have the classic New Times cover showing the hot-dogging former AG, Grant Woods, handing a tube steak to an escapee in front of the Madison Street Jail. While the Grantster has plumped up and lost some hair, his ego remains in overdrive. Forget about hosting a fulltime gig at KT'R as he makes far too much litigating than what the men in secret underwear could pay. However, 2006 is an election year so the pal of SuperKid and The Amazing Herbie will make some guest shots so we'll know what a great job the Guv is doing and how happy Fife must be making pastries. Generally speaking, Nurse Jeff and I welcome the return of the Grantster...it just makes that picture worth more!
