Terrible news as Grateful Dead's founding member Bob Weir (who was also part of Dead & Co.) has died at age 78:

Weir had been diagnosed with cancer in July and beat it, he but "succumbed to underlying lung issues," according to a statement on his website.

He was a teenager when he joined the band as rhythm guitar player. This leaves drummer Bill Kreutzmann as the band's sole original survivor. Drummer Mickey Hart joined the band after a few albums, and he survives as well.

RIP to a legend. I remember when Grateful Dead was centered on Jerry Garcia as the lead singer for them until he died back in 1995. Had no idea the surviving members had to do multiple spinoff bands.
