This Gray deal affects WWNY, WNYF-CD, and KEYC

Gray Television on Friday said it is buying United Communications’ television stations for $45 million. The acquisition will add two new markets to Gray’s growing portfolio: WWNY (CBS) and WNYF-CD (Fox) in Watertown, N.Y. (DMA 178) and KEYC (CBS-Fox) in Mankato, Minn. (DMA 199).
“We are honored to be selected by United as the new owners of legacy stations WWNY and KEYC,” said Kevin Latek, Gray’s chief legal and development officer. “We look forward to working with their dedicated employees to further enhance these stations’ record of service and success.”

Now Gray has named new leaders for the stations mentioned here.

Gray Television today announced appointments of two new leaders for the television stations it is acquiring from United Communications. With this announcement, Gray fills both open positions with managers who have experience in small and mid-size television markets.

In Watertown, N.Y. (DMA 178), Gray appointed Eric Krebs as the GM of WWNY (CBS) and WNYF-CD (Fox). Krebs has spent his entire professional career in television broadcasting and has held several positions in multiple markets over the years. For nearly the past two years, Krebs has been the GM-general sales manager of Gray’s Charlottesville, Va., stations, and he was the stations’ GSM for the previous six years.
