Gray expanding to Yuma

Alongside the big news of the Phoenix Suns & Mercury games airing on Gray's KTVK/KPHE-LD in Phoenix, there's also this added nugget in this CNBC article that states Gray is launching in Yuma this Summer. Right now, the Big 4 network affiliates there are owned by two companies, KYMA-DT CBS/NBC (Imagicomm Communications) & KECY ABC/FOX/CW (News-Press & Gazette). I'd think Grey would prefer KYMA-DT so as to have all CBS affiliates in AZ as they apparently see Arizona like Georgia. And kinda like what we see in Atlanta with then-WGCL, now WANF, KPHO/KTVK in Phoenix has rough patches & sure could use a refresh of their own to turn their station around.

They have a CP for KAZS/27 in Yuma that will be used for their new sports network based at KPHE-LD Channel 44 in Phoenix. It's conceivable that Gray could commandeer CBS away from KYMA, either standalone as 27.2 or as a satellite of KPHO-TV/5, but I haven't read anything about that.

They also have a CP for KAZF/32 in Flagstaff. Same situation.

KAZS 27 is on the air, a friend of mine is the news director for a Yuma radio station group and published a story on them a few days ago
