Gray purchases Meredith station group

Moving WGCL to 17 isn't improbable. WPCH could be relocated to 46 or at the very least be made a WGCL subchannel. All this while retaining their RF channels, seeing as how UHF and VHF are irrelevant with virtuals. But we'll have to wait and see what Gray does once the ink dries.
But the question is if CBS approves the affiliation move from 46 to 17 is another thing under Meredith's and soon to be Gray's broadcast contract and move WPCH as 17.2 once Gray takes over the station.

Likewise this may not even matter anymore if the emphasis here is for CBS to boost Paramount+ for CBS entertainment content.

Fun fact: way back when it was WJRJ, the owner--Jack Rice Jr.--first had a license granted in 1965 and it was originally allocated for channel 46. Could be a little karma at work if WPCH and WGCL switch virtuals.

I like how station ID is WJRJ named after Jack Rice Jr. I find the naming of station IDs interesting.

WJHG in Panama City FL is named for its founder, James Harrison Gray.

It's been over a year and a half, and Gray's KOLN Lincoln NE recently began reconstruction of its tower taken out during the January 2020 ice storm. STAs filed to extend the silent period in order to preserve the KOLN license. Covid and other delays are a factor, but there just isn't the urgency to supply OTA signal in the era of big retrans fees, I suspect.

KOLN went back on the air this past Tuesday

Nearly two years after its tower collapsed in a winter storm, Gray TV CBS affiliate KOLN/10 (Lincoln) is resumed normal operations on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The station advised viewers to rescan after 10 a.m. Tuesday to receive KOLN’s new signal. The RF channel 10 signal will carry CBS on 10.1, H&I on 10.4, Circle on 10.5, and True Crime Network on 10.6, as well as KSNB-NBC on 4.1 and MeTV/MyNetworkTV on 4.2, matching KSNB’s virtual channel numbers.

Update Gray Television has removed content from the Newson app for Vuit app. Note this removal is due to Gray being named as an investor in the Vuit App.

This comes as the Meredith deal enters the final stages of the deal.

This story of Gray Removing content from NewsOn is similar to how NBC is considering to remove their content from Hulu because they have to protect their own and operated app Peacock after its content deal with Hulu is over. Note Hulu is a Disney owned app and Hulu is bundled with Disney+ and ESPN+ for the Disney apps package.
Peacock on the other hand is in a bundled with Xfinity Internet and Cable with other NBC owned channels.

Will Gray taking over affect Springfield/Holyoke, MA much? They have low-power "CBS 3", which is operated from CBS Hartford's studio in Rocky Hill. "CBS 3" is paired with ABC 40 and "FOX 6" (channel 40-2). The combined trio is collectively called Western Mass News.

Hilton Howell, CEO of Gray, says that Meredith split their efforts between publishing and broadcasting. Under Gray, the focus will be solely broadcasting with nothing to distract their efforts.

Deal is official WGCL and WPCH-TV are now the Flagship stations of Gray television.
Wikipedia's editors are taking their time with changing everything (They still show Meredith as the owners of these stations, and any edits are rejected).

It's Wikipedia. They'll update when they feel like it.

I know editing Wikipedia entries is a full time job as you need references for everything. If you don't have any, the old information stays, accurate or not.

The stations haven't made the change yet either.

Not on their website, but the end of the KTVK morning show had a "Gray Media Group" copyright blurb today.

I don't think there's a specific rule about a time limit.
They'll get to it in a day or so.
