Odd to think of Scripps owning KMVT, which was locally owned in a tiny market forever. I did some consulting work there back in 96-97 trying to bring that station into the 1990’s but they ignored everything I said lol.
Oddly the one who shot me down the most, Mr. Rickey passed away earlier this year:

LOL. The year after I left the station was actually sold off to someone else, plus that part of Idaho is really in the middle of nowhere (well the whole state is isolated but that’s another story).
I'm really surprised to see Scripps acquiring in markets 187 and 188. When I worked for them from 2009-2012 (at KNXV, Phoenix), I want to say the smallest markets they were in were Green Bay, Wisconsin and West Palm Beach, Florida.
Likewise. KMVT had only wanted me based off my time at KCNC in Denver and I was desperate for cash at the time in 1996 to take on such a dead end gig. Through in an eager fast talking head hunter too…Lesson learned…
Scripps shouldn't have gone it alone and should've kept WILX doing the news for them or WXMI FOX17 do the newscast for WSYM in my opinion. It's full circle for them as WILX did news and will now become sister stations in Lansing. Which will just be 2 TV station groups now Gray WILX NBC/WSYM FOX47 & Nexstar/Mission CBS/ABC/CW.
Scripps acquired a bunch of tiny markets when they bought Cordillerra in 2019, which included only two top 100 markets and several above 150, largely in Montana.
Looking back, that acquisition was probably a mistake.
