Greaseman and MLK assasination in Boston

Was it Greaseman that on this day a few years back made the watermelon and fried chicken comment up in Boston.. Or was it someone else. We're having a discussions on some of the most boneheaded idiotic moments on radio, and this one is in the top 5.... We just can't remember if it was Greaseman or someone else... Does anyone remember this?

pretty much where this thread is heading given the 40th anniversary of the senseless murder of a man.

Greaseman never held court in Boston.

He was brilliant in the late 70's at WAPE in Jacksonville, and I believe mouthed himself out of a job in DC in the 80's. troll those boards for a nibble.

There was a guy in Pittsfield, Ma who made those remarks and received national attention over it, back in 1988, on Martin Luther King Day. Not to mention that he ended up losing his job at that station immediately, as well as his part time job at
another station in Albany. The guy did eventually return to the air waves in Albany, a few years later, under a new air name.
 
It's the jerks like Greaseman and others that have given the biz a very bad name.

I agree, this is a day to pause and reflect a great man, MLK.
 
The station in Pittsfield is WBEC (I know cuz I used to work there). I won't mention the guys name cuz he's a friend of mine, but needless to say after all these years he's still hearing about it.
 
not for nuthin', but what the hell was your friend thinkin'... I mean, geez, if ya wanna toss a career, thats a great way. Is your friend still in the industry?
I'm all for being controversial, but you have to know where to pull back too, and a beloved figure (and genuinely decent and good man like MLK) is just way over the top... Hell, couldn't he have picked Idi Amin or someother scumbag like that...
