Greaseman/WTLK (Real Radio 106.5)

I was watching Glenn Beck's show on Headline News last night during his segment on "shock jocks". He went through the usual litany of suspects (with photos) of Stern, O&A, Imus & Grease. When the picture of Grease was shown, it was a pub shot from the old Real Radio 106.5 Studios in Jacksonville. You had to look close, but you could see the "Real Radio" logo on the studio microphone.

Not that it matters, but I thought it was strange to see a pic from one of his visits to Jax in '97 instead of from another portion of his career.

the operative words here .. "not that it matters" Jacksonville radio has gotten very very boring when it comes to a post like this one.

I apologize if I've "added" to your perception of "boring" radio in Jax by creating this topic. Don't shoot the messenger - just pointing out something I saw on television. I've been out of the market for 7 years and I can't say that I have any relevant opinions of the state of radio in market #46.

Randy, that was cool, I don't care what anyone says! ;) As much of a blip in Grease's career as his second run in Jacksonville was...for someone to use a photo from that to identify him would have been odd. That's like talking about the great game show host Bill Cullen, and showing a picture of him on Hot Potato.

I will say from when I met Greaseman at 106.5, he always seemed to be happy to talk to visitors and pose for photos, so I suppose having one available would have been no surprise.

When Grease did his show from the Real Radio studio, where did y'all do traffic?

For Grease's appearences at the TLK studios, Richie Clemons set up the small prod room adjacent to the WROO studio as an air-room for traffic. That's where I spent most of the show, when asked to do traffic. Steve Fox usually handled it but, when Doug came to town, he had to handle a lot of stuff. I ran all the local inventory from that room during the show. True, it kinda sucked being on the other side of the building during the "ring-dang-doo", but it was fun nonetheless.

About a week or so ago I got your sports station on

About a week or so ago I got your sports station on 93.9 here in Palm Coast, FL -- it was the opener of the local PM Drive show. Two gents and a chick. They were talking about the recent death of an astronaut. Signal was kick-ass... ducting of course. THe FM Band has been unsettled at times here, it's that time of the season.
