Great Aberdeen "pipeline" enhancement here in Monroe today

Hey guys, if don't have your radio on, you should check, because Aberdeen and Grays Harbor stations are blowing up my radio right now.

I logged KSWW with a huge local-like signal, KJET a little worse but still over CBU, KDUX 104.7 is huge right now. Also had KLWA 101.3 Westport and K269FT 101.7 Aberdeen (KXRO/250w) for new logs into the FM logbook here in Monroe. BC stations are also enhanced, I am hearing either CHLY or CIVL on 101.7 w/ K269FT. Check it out!

Here in Bremerton KDUX is coming in OK, albeit with splatter from KMCQ. 102.1 is a mix of KPQ and KSWW. CBU is dominating 105.7 right now. Am also getting KMNT 104.3 from Centralia under the KMCQ splatter.

So THAT'S why Seattle FMs were unusually clear in Bellingham tonight. I was just about to mention that....

The usually unlistenable Seattle signals muscled in at almost KISM strength around noon for about 45 minutes. However CHWF completely nuked KRWM (KRWM is usually the stronger of the two on 106.9.) KUOW was almost strong enough to override my Part 15 transmitter......

In Issaquah, I've been receiving lots of canadians (92.1; 98.5;99.3;100.3.101,1) on my Sangean Clock Radio 92.1 is especially strong - also getting 96.9 from South Sound. Bellingham 92.9; 104.1 AND 106.5. I think I'm also hearing 104.3 from Canada as well .

What radio models do you guys use to pick up distant stations? And what are the price ranges?

I used to be able to pick up lots of Canadian stations and coastal stations clearly on my Yamaha receiver at home. But not anymore. I can get CIOC and that's about it now. I live in Renton. I don't think it is a problem with my receiver. Maybe interference from other stations and all those repeater and low power stations.

I'm using a mix of three AM/FM/SW radios - the Grundig G5, Grundig G8 and Tecsun PL-660. All are using the telescopic whips only.

The G8 can be found for about $50, the PL-660 for about $100. The G5 has been discontinued.

KKBW strong as a local here in Edmonds where's Sonic? Usually in these types of conditions, Sonic blows KKBW out of the water.

Here's a bandscan I just conducted,
88.1 KWAO stronger than usual
88.5 KPLU
88.9 CBUX-FM-2 is that correct?
89.1 CSN translator Bremerton is it K206DM?
89.5 KNHC
89.7 CJSU
90.3 KEXP
90.5 CBCV
90.7 KSER
90.9 KVTI
91.1 KROH
91.3 KBCS
91.7 KXOT
91.9 KPTZ
92.1 CBU-FM-1
92.5 KQMV
92.9 KISM
93.3 KUBE
93.7 CJJR
94.1 KMPS
94.5 K233BU though I did pick up CFBT briefly

96.1 KXXO no sign of CHKG that I looked for.
96.5 KJAQ
96.9 KGY-FM
97.3 KIRO-FM
97.7 KOMO-FM
98.1 KING
98.5 CIOC unusually strong
98.9 KLCK
99.3 CFOX was dominating but you could tell that KDDS was there.
99.9 KISW
100.3 CKKQ
100.7 KKWF
101.1 CFMI strongest I've ever gotten them!
101.5 KPLZ also splatters onto 101.7.
101.9 nothing, was expecting KINK.
102.1 KSWW no sign of KPQ-FM.
102.3 thought it was KCRX, but turned out to be KZOK splatter.

103.7 KMTT
104.1 KAFE stronger than I've heard them down here in a long time!

104.5 KMCQ had their stereo on but appeared to be broadcasting in mono? Audio sounds a lot better than it has.
104.7 KDUX
104.9 KKBW huge, clear as a local. You'll have to check out the clip once I get it posted on tophour.

Yes.

Yes, that is also correct. You may get an echo of CSNs. I get at Edmonds - Bremerton, Granite Falls, and sometimes a third (I think it might be up on Whidbey somewhere).

105.7 - no KJET up there? I was getting it earlier, around 2-3PM with Hot AC.
107.3 is a CSN translator from the Greenwater/Enumclaw area. Tries to mess up DX while I'm in the South end! I used to get CHBE (and sometimes KFFM) in Auburn before CSN fired up the translator.

No KJET, just CBU-FM with varying strengths. Actually now I'm not sure whether it was CHHR or KMNT or maybe both on 104.3 earlier, when I was getting ready to record the KDUX legal, I heard country music on that frequency.

Country on 104.3 is KMNT. I heard them at varying levels - sometimes fair, sometimes way over KAFE's IBOC, today. CHHR also popped in and said "hi".

Yep kind of figured that. KKBW was not strong enough for a stereo signal or an hd signal yesterday, but KAFE's HD did pay a visit to my radio as well as actually a solid signal from KNBQ-HD2.

Got the tiny signal of KLSY-107.9 The Quake today. 790 watts, and over 100 miles SW!

Also KVIX 89.3 Port Angeles was a new logging with jazz matching 88.5 KPLU's broadcast. KSWW still extremely strong here.

Wow! I will have to see what I can get on 97.9. I realized an inaccuracy in my last post, 104.9 was in stereo on most radios, but for some reason, my hd does not pick up stereo signals as far as most radios do. I wonder if this will increase the numbers for KKBW? The inversion is supposed to be gone by tomorrow, so I bet the incredible DX will be gone by this time tomorrow afternoon. That's just as well, I am enjoying this, but am not liking going to school in 30 degree weather.

Was in East Bremerton just a bit earlier at the usual favorable DXing place off Wheaton & Sylvan... On my Mom's car stereo, caught the more difficult to get ones... KXL 101.1 and KKCW 103.3 from Portland like locals. Also KITI 95.1 from Centralia under some of the HD-Radio spatter from KUOW. No sign of KPQ from there, as KSWW was dominating 102.1 (as usually the case from that location). Didn't see any sign of the KMAS translator on 104.1 from Shelton, as KAFE was dominating that frequency.

KMTT should really just shut off their 103.3 translator, what's the point anyway? That's all I've been able to get on 103.3, and KINK is oddly absent from 101.9. Here in Edmonds, there is no way to get KXL, CFMI dominates that frequency had it in stronger than some of the locals earlier today. Had KSWW yesterday, but now it's back to a weak KPQ-FM. I could still get 104.9 KKBW stronger than usual, but only one small spot in stereo, was coming in almost like a local yesterday.

KITI? You've got to be kidding me! I have NEVER received that station N of Fort Lewis. Great catch! Still getting KSWW, but it's mixing with the KAPS translator now.
