I know there are plenty of iPod, Slacker, and Pandora fans on this board, but this article (and the trends it speaks of) is symbolic of what I have been griping about for the last 2 years about these services. At the end of the day, they are not RADIO and merely overgrown mp3 players on steroids. Sooner or later, boredom will set in. Based on my experience running my own station 24/7 for the last 18 months or so, all my "loyal" listeners want is great programming, exposure to new artists/music with vibe, and a connection with the human/humans responsible for delivering them the product (and knowing that said "carbon units"
are responsive to their needs), and that's exactly what I am striving to give them.
