GREAT BIG KUDOS TO WBMW/LEDYARD...

SoftRock 106.5 gets the nod for 'good doobie' in its teamed efforts with the American Red Cross for helping the displaced from the huge Peachtree Apartments fire in Norwich. Heard them helping out the cause Monday morning. This one was a bad hit for the community: 155 people displaced, losing everything.

If anyone needs to know why this station dominates the market re-read the previous paragraph. Serving the community always gets bonus points.

Stop sucking up to Fuller. How can a station dominate a market when it's been beat by WCTY for the last...14 books? Maybe if you were really in New London County radio you would know this. Get it right man!

Can'e tell from here ctradiomoron...are you bevis?
or butthead?

The support of the fire is the central point...market leader or not.

Dear Moron...

Last time I looked at the ratings for the money demo of 25-54 Adults, WCTY was being beat by WBMW and has been for the last few books. And in Women, as MC Hammer would say "Cain't Touch Dis."

Also kudos to Jammin 1077 as well for the effort they did in tandem with 106.5.

I see that even Q105 is getting into the act...albeit three days late with a drive at Shop Rite.

Citadel properties in New London have joined on: WXLM-FM also had a spot regarding the collection effort at the Norwich ShopRite.

You know, in the end, it really does not matter who did it first, or best, or biggest...it does us all good that we're seeing so many of our locals lending a hand to help out a lot of displaced people who are the true victims here. If anyone outside SECT has been listening in of late they'd have to conclude that we're doing some good work down here, and that by and large, we've got stations that actually DO have an active community interest. Looking at the Providence / Boston / Hartford / Fairfield / New Haven postings of late one can conclude that stations around these parts are making the attempt at 'living' and responding to their coverage area. As a longtime radio guy I find the dial tuned more toward the locals and actually staying with what they do longer.

Oh, and by the way...been in this market (eastern CT) for 10+ years, 2 of them locally. Just thought I'd let you know. ;D

Thanks for the support, gang...

WCTY? whats that? worked in this market for almost a year now, never heard of it. must not be that much of a ratings threat to WBMW if Ive never heard of it.

Really? This smells like sarcasm to me. :) I haven't lived in Connecticut 'since '91 and WCTY was an arse-kicker even back then (and it was AUTOMATED most of the time!)

It's good to see the community get together like this... the Defenders did something for it at their game tonight to do their part, and all radio stations have done theirs as well.

Wow....I can't believe the animosity over such a good deed! And CTY has been successful over the years but has had a dog fight with BMW since 2002, especially 25-54. Together, they knocked Q105 out of the top 3 altogether~ The REAL issue, as I see it, is that according to CT Television coverage, NONE of the Norwich/New London stations were given any credit for what they did and are doing. Instead, any KSS FM got an entire feature about how THEY rushed to Norwich and organized a relief effort, etc, blah blah blah.
Even with the world's most successful casinos and some of the most visited tourist attractions in the state of CT, not to mention one of the best small market station selections in the state, the big media centers, ie TV coverage, prefer not to give any real credit to the action in this market. It's been a long time snub. I was on the air at CTY years ago when channel 3 ran a full length story on WWYZ being the ONLY country FM station in the State.....this after CTY had already been on the air for over 20 years. After many phone calls to both YZ and FSB, there was no reply at all. No correction. No retraction. No mention at all of the king of country in CT. And that's just one example. If it doesn't happen at the casinos or involve a magnificent tragedy, it's difficult to ever find any meaningful coverage of New London County on any of the TV or newspapers outside the "Quiet Corner" I feel better now. Thanks for the space.

I saw Brian Ram of 107.7 on NBC30 Monday during their 5:00 news.

Does Q105 have a good signal? I can't pick it up in Madison?

Not to be picky, but what does that have to do with the topic? Couldn't you have starter a Q 105 thread? If you can't pick it up in Madison, then I guess it does not have a good signal. The primary service area is New London, Groton, Mystic, Norwich, Westerly.
