Great DX in the Lowcountry

Today has been one of the best DX days that I can remember in a long time. I was at the beach (Folly) with my walkman, and stations were coming in from all over the place. Z-93 (about 15 miles or so) was being overpowered by E-93 from Savannah.

98.7 the River and 98.9 Chick FM were overpowered by WKGR from Fort Pierce, FL. 98.5 the Breeze from Melbourne (just 6,000 watts) was coming in well.

WALI couldn't be heard, as WGYL in Vero Beach was coming in almost as strong as the locals, along with 94.7 from the Vero area.

I also heard at least four Miami stations: 93.9, 105.1, 105.9, and 106.7. The 102.3 from West Palm came in right next to 102.5, along with Sunny 104.3, and 107.9 WIRK was overpowering both the Myrtle and Hilton Head stations on those frequencies.

Anybody else experiencing these conditions?

Give it a few more weeks and the first round of E-Skip will fire up... Loved living in SC and picking up all those stations from TX to MN and points further west... CC

A few more weeks?!?! It's already here....I live in south FL & was seeing a few Canadian TV stations today (channel 4 Ottawa was king), plus was getting DT signal bar 33% on DT chs 2 & 5---too bad it wouldn't decode---I've yet to catch DTV on sporadic E.

cd

I like DXing, a hang over from my ham radio days, but I haven't heard it this strong and consistent in years. Man it is killing my little radio station locally and I have had some phone calls from places like Charlotte, NC Jacksonville, FL ect... hearing my little LPFM station and calling to let me know.

All this weekend. HD was pretty awesome DXing too.

Really strong signals from Palm Beach, Space Coast, and Ft. Meyers. Some good occasional pulls from Miami...picking up (briefly) WHDR-FM in HD over WEAS. Got WPBZ's RDS on WGZO which is in viewing distance from my house.

Strongest HD stations: WKGR-FM in HD over analog WYKZ (8 miles away, so no getting the analog), WRXK 96.1 lasted the longest in HD out of the bunch...
Strongest analog catches: 99.5 West Palm Beach, 93.5 Clewiston (both spanish), 95.9 Melbourne, 99.3 Cocoa, 99.7 Vero

When those E-skips open up I'll keep my fingers crossed for Canada (but not Quebec...I can barely speak coherent English). Central TX seems like a yearly thing here...

Radio-X

At night on my car radio I can sometimes get 93.1 94.1 from savanah. I remember last summer I got 103.7 WSOC from Charlotte. I hope to try to get some of the Florida stations. What type radios everyone use?
