Great DX on channel 2 in Phoenix today

Flipping around the dial this afternoon just before 2 PM MST on a TV that's terrible for DXing (goes to blue screen if the signal isn't strong enough) I pick up an Arena Football game on channel 2. That's NBC, so I'm pretty sure I'm getting KNAZ 2 Flagstaff. But underneath, there is something else. I go to my old TV that doesn't blue screen and sure enough, there's something else. They duke it out for a while, and I find that it's a PBS station, then at the top of the hour, I get and ID: "KACV - Something for everyone". KACV 2 Amarillo TX is a PBS station.Still, there's something else on the first TV - it's some kind of yoga show. KACV's listings show WWII programming which I was getting on the old TV. 1/2 hour later, it's coming in clearer - the yoga program went off and "Exploring Arkansas" comes on. It's KETS Little Rock AR. Listings confirm the programming and it's relatively clear. Power Yoga was the old program.KETS 2 Little Rock AR received in Phoenix AZ - about 1150 miles.KACV 2 Amarillo TX received in Phoenix AZ - about 600 miles.Even KNAZ is also a rare pickup at about 100 miles.

So much for assumptions

That NBC station on channel 2 that I'd assumed was KNAZ turned out to be KJRH in Tulsa OK instead. 965 miles away.

My HD tuner has no "screen mute" when it falls back to hunt for NTSC. Unfortunately any channel that's in the memory as digital keeps hunting for DTV instead...

The Dude said:
Cant you disable that stupid blue screen?? (I can in my VCR)Its a big pain i agree........
No, I can't - and it's a real nuisance. On my 15-yr-old Zenith, I could, but on the new TV - a JVC - there is nothing in the menu to disable it. D'oh!!
