Great Es opening tonight - 13 new logs and possibly a 14th! 6/23/14

After going through weak Es opening after weak Es opening, I finally got on a real, strong one tonight! 13 new ones!

6:19PM - 93.9 KSWN McCook, NE, IDed "93.9 The Zone" as soon as I dialed it up! MUF at this time was about 96 or 97. NEW #243, 50KW, 1093 miles.
6:22PM - 94.1 KDNS Downs, KS; long string of national and direct-response ads (A Place for Mom, 877-249-MYTV and Miracle Hair), ID "FM94, KDNS." On the clip, it is very hard to hear the "KD" in the ID because it was just barely fading in. NEW #244, 28KW, 1212 miles.
6:23PM - 92.3 KFTI Newton, KS; ID "Classic Country 92.3", very strong signal. NEW #245, 100KW, 1321 miles.
6:27PM - 95.5 KVOB Lindsborg, KS; strong signal with "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback, "95.5 The Rock" ID. NEW #246, 15.5KW, 1286 miles. Also heard later with ad for a Salina business and mention of "todayinkansas.com" - which was the same station, not KAHE fading up which also has a similar website.
6:28PM - 97.7 KSNP Burlington, KS; good with mention of "977thedawg.com" and Kansas City Royals tickets. NEW #247, 17.2KW, 1388 miles!
6:32PM - 95.1 KICT Wichita, KS; fair with "TNT" AC/DC and ID "The Rock Station, T95". NEW #248, 100KW, 1335 miles.
6:33PM - 100.5 KVWF Augusta, KS; faded up with ad for "Midwest Kia" in Wichita. NEW #249, 25KW, 1352 miles! Many of my logs were over 1,300 miles.
6:41PM - 96.5 KRGI Grand Island, NE; strong with Lee Brice "I Don't Dance," ID "Nebraska's Best Country, Country 96." NEW #250, 100KW, 1174 miles.
6:43PM - 98.1 KMBZ Kansas City, MISSOURI; talk show with phone number "576-7798", mention of Kansas City, phone number matches KMBZ-AM call-in line! NEW #251 (more than the west side now on FM); 100KW, 1410 miles!! First ever Missouri on FM! FM State #18 heard here (or in Western Washington).
6:50PM - 92.3 KBRY Sargent, NE; Brad Paisley's "Riverbank" strong, ID "92.3 K-Bear Country." NEW #252, 100KW, 1104 miles. New to air this month (early June), used to be on 92.1 with religion running only 110W (as KHZZ).
6:54PM - 95.5 KAAN Bethany, MISSOURI; good signal with retro-sounding jingle ID! Will post an audio clip. NEW #253, 50KW, 1396 miles! Also heard a few minutes later with Kansas City Royals baseball - our Mariners swept them Fri-Sun ;) 2 MOs in one night - and it's an entirely new state.
6:56PM - 93.5 KKOT Columbus, NE; ID "Classic Hits 93.5 The Hawk." NEW #254, 100KW, 1205 miles.
7:15PM - 96.5 KSOM Audubon, IA; commercial for R&B Feeds in Atlantic, IA, fair signal fading up out of nowhere (definitely Es however). NEW #255, 100KW, 1311 miles.

RELOGS
6:30PM - 88.9 KPRD Hays, KS; weather forecast and "KPRD calendar of events..." 83KW at 1200 miles.
7:04PM - 92.3 KEZO Omaha, NE with "Heavy Metal" by Sammy Hagar // playlist match. 95KW at 1274 miles.

UNIDS
97.7 UNID Spanish station, suspect KBBX-NE. ID just barely faded up, posting clip here and to WTFDA forums. Heard around 7PM.

Have to make a correction to KAAN - they had St. Louis Cardinals baseball, not KC Royals.

This was all a Northwest-Midwest opening. Your area was not affected, unfortunately. It's been a crappy season down there in CA. Better here...

Thanks for sharing those audio clips, crainbebo!

And one thing I wish I learned earlier is that there can often be E Skip on FM without those frequencies showing up on the maps.

While the maps are helpful, it's always good to also check the old fashioned way.
