More great DX this weekend in the Hudson Valley. Saturday evening (July 15) E-skip was awesome between about 7pm and 10pm Eastern Time. The skip was coming from the Midwest, in a region centered on Iowa, with 20 new FM stations, including 12 from Iowa.
Some highlights:
KZAT-95.5 Belle Plaine, IA at 7:14pm, with spot for a phone place in Tama (IA). 4400 watts, at 951 miles.
KLIR-101.1 Columbus, NE at 8:17pm, “Clear 101” with Backtracks with Kid Kelly ending at 8:08pm then CNN News. 100,000 watts at 1214 miles, most-distant catch of the night.
WTMX-101.9 Skokie, IL at 8:55pm, “101.9 The MiX” music from INXS, mentions of Soldier Field and North Avenue Beach. This is only my second Chicagoland FM. 4200 watts, 708 miles.
WZZT-102.7 Morrison, IL at 9:26pm, “Classic Hits, 102.7 The Z”. 6000 watts, 825 miles.
A bit of E-skip during the day Sunday brought in three new ones.
WIBW-94.5 Topeka, KS “94 Country” at 12:02pm. I actually heard this while tuned to 94.7, as my radio just picks up interference from local WKXP-94.3 when tuned to 94.5. 1179 miles.
KCSI-95.3 Red Oak, IA “Sunshine Country” at 12:41pm. 1104 miles.
KAAN-95.5 Bethany, MO, country, giving local phone number with 660 (Northern Missouri) area code. 1060 miles.

It's incredible that we're getting this many skip openings. We're overdue for a 2 or 3 week quiet period... and after August 15 or so, chances for skip with diminish greatly.
