GREAT Howie quote on O&A today

"I don't want to be in the same room as a Bubba the Love Sponge". Oh really, Howie?? Hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyypocrite!

Who cares.

And if those two knew how to manage a bit, they wouldn't have mgmnt. kill yet another 'brilliant' contest. Decent fans don't need 'direction', they go out on their own. Even when these dumbf@cks are given instructions, they f@ck it up.

They should worry about themselves and their own jobs.

Their bit has nothing to do with the massive puddle of hypocricy that Howie sits in every day.

O&A screwing up bits? If Howie was half the talent he makes you believe he is, then he wouldn't need to have put a gag order on O&A when they were with WNEW. Infinity also wouldn't have kept them under contract for 2 years if they were such screw ups...considering the station across the street already offered them a job. They would have nationally called out Howie three years ago.

Bye bye Howie

It has much to do with their poor business sense. They tend to piss all over their bosses like a couple of drunks. And if you're going to do that, at least learn how to negotiate a decent contract in the process. I doubt they have. I hope they own their own material. (ah yes, Howie doesn't own the stuff that was produced/broadcast on Infinity/CBS, but he owns the words and ideas, and he owns the E footage. He negotiated with the idea that he was staying).

Bubba isn't my taste, but perhaps there are people out there who like his more 'middle american' sense of humor, it bested Clear Channel (he did make CC money), and it gave him a job. It was all business.

You seem to have this mental block, similar to the one shared by a certain political ilk: If you revise a position, then you're a hypocrite or a 'flip flopper'. You don't seen to grasp the concept that time passes and positions change. I'm not sure how much of a difference Bubba will make in the subscriber base, but it's an F U to CC.

While I don't agree with the gag, I understand it. Howard was Infinity. He built the company with Karmizan. So these two are somehow hired by Infinity, (after showing they have no idea where the bounderies are, btw), so they could perhaps be the 'hier appearant' to the morning franchise. Howard didn't prevent them from being hired, but for them to fire salvos at him when he was divorced and at other moments, what the f@ck do you think would happen?
They are children in this industry, who don't know when to stop unless someone in their camp loses an eye. Or opens their mouth about company business.

You ever hear of a 'non-compete' clause? It is pretty standard in the industry. Aside from that, they were UNDER CONTRACT for the duration they were off the air. If no BUY-OUT under their OWN TERMS was presented (it shows you how valuable they are to their new bosses) then they did what they had to to remain solvent. In the words of Buddy Rich: "Keep your f#ckin' mouth shut!"

> considering the station across the
> street already offered them a job.

You mean Clear Channel? EVERYONE negotiates with the competition when a contract is up. CC didn't want anything to do with them after the St. Pats incident. Q wasn't gonna play hot potato with those two. :

"Opie and Anthony got the door slammed in their faces by Clear Channel yesterday, as the radio giant said it had absolutely no interest in hiring the just-fired shock jocks. "They don't fit in with the brands we have in New York. God bless 'em, but we have no interest in them at all," said Andy Rosen, Clear Channel's regional vice president."

Do you think they would be doing the same job they were doing at NEW if they went to Q? NOPE.

> They would have
> nationally called out Howie three years ago.

Yeah, big deal. It didn't f*cking happen, and now, it never will. In the words of a friend of mine who was @WW1 at the time: "Ken Stevens was too greedy, and kept pushing them to go further."

As I said: children, and most certainly puppets.

O&A who?

Grow up.

Agreed - Bubba was a good "business" move for Howie. While he makes good business moves, he hasn't made good creative moves in years and years! Letting Jackie go, letting Billy West go, the last 2 1/2 years of show that was nothing more than bs lies about how he was "sooooo persecuted" by the government, etc - just lame.

Howards ego is the end of Howard. Howard has NEVER, EVER done good radio solo - not ever. Billy and Jackie were main cogs of his show - when he left, so to did any interesting moments on the show.

I think O&A on XM kicks ass, but even if you don't...then you don't. All that being said, none of it changes the fact that Howard Stern has never been creative on his own, and has proven for years now that a built legacy outweighs day to day talent. Simply put, Howard doesn't have day to day talent without an arsenal of people coming up with material for him all the time. I'd be willing to bet right now that Bubba will do better radio over there, and will be removed because he outshines Hoo Hoo.

So what.

Changing your mind about a person isn't unusual, particularly when you are no longer competing with that person.

Howie has all the faults people have and then some but he aint dating my daughter, he just makes me laugh. O/A don't.

Hell Sponge is funnier then o/a.

Actually, the staff he has assembled now is one of the best. Artie is great. Richard and Sal are great bizzarro elements to the show. He does play up the censorship and government involvement, and so what. That's his baileywick.

O & A are better with comedians as guests. And isn't Norton a fixture on that show?

O&A's incorrigibility will be the end of them, in addition to their egos and bad business sense. They will probably piss someone off eventually and get fired as a result.

That's crap. And in addtion to being funny on his own, he surrounds himself with people that have that certain je ne sais quoi. That is also an element of talent.

>and
> has proven for years now that a built legacy outweighs day

I contend that he has done great shows in the past several months, with and without guests in the studio. You don't think that O&A are trying to build a legacy and longevity as well? You're just simple. That's part of this business. You might as well pack it in without the intention of going all the way.

> Simply put, Howard doesn't have day to day

There are different qualities to their respective shows. I'm not a Bubba fan, and I probably won't listen. Just how one 'outshines' another on a system where there are virtually no ratings is beyond me. You're selling a subscribe base. That's it. So believe what you want about 'talent', 'legacy', and anything else you want to argue about each respective personality. You don't know what you're talking about.

O&A had a deal working for a company Howard help establish, they pissed on his leg while using his established syndication platform, and they got told to STFU. While it's not pleasant that "he worked his magic behind the scenes in the boardrooms", well, tough sh*t. And now as they are unrestrained, they are also virtually unnoticed. They owe Howard their careers. Kiss the ring, even if you think the guy sucks. He paved the way. And they went and screwed the pooch on their own. Now, Howard is smart enough not to even engage them. That's what kills them for me. They have become like the morning zoos. They are like Ed Levine. Remember him? The lame 'Assault on the Media'. "Opie and Anthony! Woo Wooo!" Yeah. Now, go wipe your junk off on the curtains, imbecile.

The best sound they make is the muffled suckiling as they nestle in Hannity's lap, not when they are screaming like 2-year-olds on the air about Howard.
