great news

Over the weekend I attended the festival in Johnstown. I was fortunate enough to run into one of the high mucky mucks of the festival and guess what?! I've got a spot in the festival next year for my fry wagon. After spending much of my life in small market venues like Clearfield and Centre Hall, this is like going to the major market. I'll have my regular fries, my sweet pototo frieds, plus my new honey sugar waffles. I intend to make a small fortune on this gig if this year's turnout is any kind of example. I can't believe my good fortune AND I've still got the Bedford Fair coming up which is okay but it's certainly no Johnstown!!

Congrats Fryman !

Will we also see you during Potato Fest in Ebensburg this month?

I don't know but do you have any "contact information" you can give me. I'm more than happy to "set up shop" anytime and anywhere I can make a buck. When's the dates, times, location, etc. Who do I need to call? How much will it costs me? I usually work on a 60/40 split with the organization. Will there be some live radio remotes from the fest like at the Grange Fair? Help me out Mr. Hats. Thanks, Fryman

W-o-w! Johnstown is where it's at. Johnstown has launched many a vendor's wagon into the big league. You, sir, are on your way. Congratulations.

Fryman is a regular and thoughtful contributor to this board and if he's proud of an achievement what does it add to the discussion to reply with sarcasm? I'm ordinarily a big fan of the sarcastic, but only when it serves a purpose. And I'm a stickler about keeping off topic discussions off message boards. But every once in awhile, you have to give some space to a guy who works hard, makes an honest living and knows as much about the radio business and the State College/Altoona area as many of the professionals who post here.

You want to demean someone or some location, fine. Bring it on. But frying Fryman for pride and enthusiasm? There's no reason for it. (And, no, don't know the guy, never met him, never talked with him, never bought fries from him that I know of.)

You've never had Fyrman's hot off the wagon fries? You don't know what you're missing. Except when he changes his fry oil. That's when they are on the bland side. But give that oil two or three weeks of fry time and fryman's extra ingredients and then you have fryman's distinctive fry taste.

Yes, fryman is on ole radio guy. But some say he burnt out after years of double shifts, too much coffee and having to read newspaper articles for his news breaks. I never heard the whole story about how he got iinto the fry business but he is still a proud man. Go fryman.

(And, no, don't know the guy, never met him, never talked with him, never bought fries from him that I know of.)

Everyone knows the man. You probably do or did if you ever listened to radio in the 70s and 80s in Central PA.

Fryman=Sean McKay(airname)

You're confused. I met fryman, I ate his frys. He's not McKay. Besides fryman is much older than McKay. Fryman's in his late sixties and Sean McKay is still in his fifties. My sister has a crush on Mc Kay and she said that McKay could never be fryman. She said McKay can't even boil water.

;) ;) We hear ya! ;D ;D

P.S. Click on frymans profile and check out the email address. That tells it all! For those in the radio industry will know what I mean.

Yes, yes I am aware of that. I am surprised you fell for that. It is simply Fryman's pseudonym. McKay was Fryman's apprentice of sorts. Much of McKay's success in radio came from the knowledge gleaned while an understudy of Fryman. Fryman was involved with helping a number of air people to learn the ropes.

You need to get up to speed with your radio history. There is a radio blog that talks about the history of some of the bigger names in radio. Until you know the facts you should probably not post here.

I'm not sure how to "check out a profile" but I am not Sheen McKay. I used to listen to him on the radio and my dad said he and McKay used to hang out at the Steel Pier and eat their hotdogs back in the 70's but I'm not so sure that I believe him. I am only a fryman but love hearing about the radio business. You'll note that I always have my transistor and earplugs on when I'm working the wagon.

Fryman, you just click on your name on one of your posts to see the profile. Under yours, the email is rpuffer@webtv, which anyone knows rpuffer is Sean McKays real name, so one would think it is him, or as Bimbocastress mentioned, someone else is using his real name, which could be identity theft in a way.

Bimbocastress, I was in every branch of radio operations and know more than you ever could. You were still nursing from your mother probably while I was getting out of the business and moving on. PS. You gotta check out the post about you from BIGDICKD, it is hillarious.  I will have to find out who you are from him.

It is nice that many of us don't hide behind nicknames/usernames on this forum, must mean we have nothing to hide. ;)

Peace All!

You're right. I use R Puffer's laptop for my e=mail and this R Puffer is a woman and is in no way Sean McKay. I bought the laptap from her at a yardsale over in Colver. There is also a Doctor Puffer who works at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota so I guess Puffer is a more common name than one would think. R Puffer, by the way, was an elderly black woman who told me she was from Johnstown but lives in the Huntingdon area these days. I think she said the "R" was for Ruth or Reba or something. I hope this clears up the misunderstanding.

LOL!

Still like the old days of radio. Remember the Johnnys Fry Wagon and Tommy Garrabaldi bits?

Hey, don't forget Jerry Puffer. Boy, it sure looks like Sean McKay/R. Puffer.

WAIT, IT IS HIM! LOL ;)

Make sure you read the whole thing. I think there may be a mention listed to the Mayo Clinic in there after his picture. Perhaps Dr. Puffer is related to fryman? ;D

Thanks moderator for cleaning up the trash on here.

When are you going to remove Clanghorn or Clanghamm or whatever he calls himself?

I asked last night when they were removing you and Broadcastress, so I beat you to it.

I keep my topics to radio, not promoting a fry wagon.

And it is C. Langham which is my real name, no air name or nickname.

End of this story. Now lets all get back to what we are on here for, talking about radio.

Can't we all just get along....?

Actually, the new American pastime is eating fries while listening to the radio.

Rock on, all!

Clangham, Broadcastress and Fryman...

Let's just settle this with a good ol' fashioned steel cage match!

Three men...er, I mean, two men, one woman...enter. One man...or woman...leaves.

Someone get Vince McMahon or Dana White on the horn! Steve Jones can do play by play with Joe Rogan and "Good Ol'" J.R.!
