GREAT OLDIES STATION

Check out KFXM-LP 96.7 Lancaster, Ca. Go to the station web site and listen to the stream. Just about the best and biggest selection on the air anywhere.

Hey Ya'll. Greetings from LA (Lower Alabama) If you're looking for an all live, personality oldies station, check out Oldies700.net The station is owned and operated by former Cleveland, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Jacksonville Morning Man Jack Gale! The Big Wheel is a daytime AM station that operates 24/7 on the net. Check it out and give us some feedback!

On the studio tour, I noticed something all too familiar to those of us in the business for many years...the turntables/tone arms have NO cartridge or stylus!

How many of you worked at stations that the cartridge/styli were removed from production rooms over the weekend?

New talent: "Why is this spare stylus taped to the corner of the turntable so beat...they must be cheap here". "Oh good...they use Stanton 500's instead of Pickerings! Now I can get new needles for my gigs!"

This station is horrible. They need to step back, figure out what LPFM is, and talk to someone on how to program this station.

Jon Bruce, I agree with 1250WTAE - KFXM is horrible. What exactly do you think is so great about them?

The bad music? The pukey production? The horrible station "imaging"? The very professional website? It sounds more like a high-school station than anything else...

The music selection is terrible; while they play thousands of titles, thousands of them are not worth hearing....it seems to be programmed to eccentric record collectors who wait for the next obscure song to play (won't be long; it'll be along next).

How exactly is KFXM serving the public in its licensed area? They run no news; no weather except maybe occasionally on the one live weekly shift (9-noon Saturday). Voicetracked badly another 7 hours a week. The rest of the time it's a jukebox....a bad oldies sandbox for the "music director"....KFXM is NOT what LP-100 low power FMs were supposed to be...

As an LP-FM it's a joke; as an Oldies station it's a joke. If this were even Market #250, it would get its ass handed to it by every other station in town (such as it does now in Lancaster). The #1 station would be pulling a 20 share and KFXM might be able to pull a .1 on a good day...

KFXM is an insult to LP FM stations that actually try to do a good job of serving the community.

If you're going to pimp an Oldies station, at least pimp one that doesn't suck.
