Ralph Evans Sr. founder of Evans and Associates in Thiensville, passed away
on Sunday morning.

He was inducted into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame
several years ago.

He was the husband of Rosa Bartell-Evans who had operated WOKY Radio in
Milwaukee for many years.

His firm is operating under the direction of his sons, Benjamin and Rick (Ralph Jr.).

He was a mentor of many great engineers throughout the Midwest, and also helped improve alot of Wisconsin Radio stations over many years.

He will be sadly missed, and his kindness will never be forgotten.

This is indeed sad news. Evans Associates now hosts my website, and we are in the discussion stages of a project. I had hoped to interview Ralph, Sr. back in 2002, but his poor health forced a cancellation. Earlier this year, he was on the phone when Ralph III (Rick) and I talked about some history.

Ralph, Sr. built the Bartell stations, including WEXT (1947) - which became WOKY. Bartell filed an application for channel 6 after the war (The post-war channel assignments for Milwaukee were 3, 6, 8 & 10.) and then for channel 19 after the "freeze" was lifted by the FCC in 1952. They later received a license for WOKY-TV, which went on the air almost 52 years ago. They received a license for WMTV in Madison prior to that, and Ralph built that station.

He and his wife are true broadcastng legends.
