Great Read

Thanks for posting the link to this excellent article. While the people at Niagara Independent Media had their hearts in the right place, I don't think they had a real grasp of the realities of running an advertising supported radio station. Too much narrow interest programming for a commercial station. I admire their idealism, but IMHO high ideals work better in a non profit setting. The Niagara Falls Reporter - best alt weekly around.

Are you Bob Kohoutek that used to work in radio(WJJL) many years back?

It's a good read, but an equally good read which expressed many good points could be found in the first WHLD thread.

A news-talk station cannot succeed without investing in a bona fide 24-7 news department and a solid, service-oriented morning drive show.

Niagara Independent Media may have learned an expensive lesson regarding "leasing (renting) vs. buying (owning)." The group would have been better off purchasing the nearly solvent WJJL. All this is water over the damn, of course, as hindsight is 20-20.

That's an interesting question because while NO, I am not him, I did in fact work at WJJL many years ago (welcome to the club, huh?)
