Anyone have some idea's on making your internet stream sound the best it can be? I hear a few stations out there who have some awsome sounding streams that I think might be better than some radio station's. How do ya do it? Any inside?
If your using the Mircosoft encoder version 9 run no slower than "FM" quality ( set at 37 kbps max, it will run an average 32.0 kbps ) with a computor that has a processor of at least a gig and ram of 250mb minimum. Setting at CD quality sounds even better if you don't hit it with too much audio, maybe about half the volume scale.
Use good quality processing, Breakaway Broadcast works great. Also switch to using AAC+, WMA and MP3 "suck" at the same bitrates compared to it. Just don't use Parametric Stereo if you want to broadcast to iTunes/iPhone clients, they can't support it just yet.
Oldies Radio 1620 is using a late 70's Valley People Dynamite 401 stereo system, set up in mono and a 32kbps feed, seems to work pretty well for what we're doing. www.oldiesradio1620.com Its loud!
