Great South or Whoever They Call Themselves Is a Joke

That's right everyone. My friend from Alabama Broadcast Media Page, has just informed me that their WKLF station in Clantion has been deleted from the FCC datatbase. Mr. Zach told me their license has expired but they continue to broadcast. What a joke this broacasting compnay is. Wish they would sell off these two stations, to someone that would make a real go of it and not run these stations into the ground.

P.S. Mr. Zach is still waiting for 97.7 FM in Jemison, to get their ducks or should I say, Peaches in a row. Like me and everyone else reading, he is sick and tired of waiting for this so-called broadcasting outfit, to make the format change already.

There was a tornado warning for parts of Chilton county tonight. I listened to 97.7 and, unless I missed it somewhere, never heard any type of information regarding the warnings, whatsoever.

What is wrong with them??

Sounds like to me, that they don't care about these radio stations. Wish they would sell off these stations and let someone more responsible take control of them.

Anything that Great South Wireless LLC... Great South RFDC LLC....... Brantley Broadcast Associates.....Reynolds technical Associates ever owns or operates goes to (BLEEP).

I've offered to buy WSMO Thomaston or WKLF 980 but they weren't interested in selling.

By the wya, I've seen the 97.7/980 facility.. nothing impressive whatsoever. They dont use it anymore, but an old car/carousel automation system is still in the building. The AM has a small 4 channel console.... crap crap crap

To reiterate a point I've made before:

You should've heard how 'helpful' their Monroeville station, now WTID 101.1, was before and after Hurricanes Ivan ('04)and Dennis just last summer, Ivan being the worst of the two. The former WFNU "Fun 101" never relayed any local information before or after either storm, nor simulcast any of the Mobile TV broadcasts.

If it weren't for a REAL broadcasters who've been here for well over 20 years (Monroe Broadcasting, owners of WMFC AM & FM), Monroe County and the surrounding areas would've been even more lost and chaotic than it was. <P ID="signature">______________

What a mess they have. If I had the money and nerve, I would make them an offer, buy those two stations and bring something fresh and exciting to WEZZ and WKLF.

They don't have a clue, when it comes to running a radio station.

P.S. Sorry for these rants but I am disgusted with WEZZ and WKLF. They were once great radio stations but since they changed owners, they have gone downhill very fast.

What a joke Great South is. Shame on them for not keeping your community informed, when those tropical storms came through, The X. Lives were certainally at danger and they didn't even bother to inform the public. Shame on them.

I wonder, had Ivan and/or Dennis did any damage to their radio station(s), would they have even bothered to rebuild them and/or informed the public that due to storm damage, we will be off the air for a time.

P.S. Which now brings me to another point, does Great South even have any Emergency Alert System devices, in any of their stations. If they don't, then that proves to me, they could careless about the upkeep of their radio stations.

The tornado warning was transmitted by the stations EAS unit. It was being rebroadcast about 5 seconds behind the national weather service audio. I was in the station when the EAS took over the program feed. This was the first time i saw an EAS system in operation. I didn't know these units would store the audio from the alerts and delay it. They seem to only delay it 5 seconds or less. The operator at the station said all tornado and severe thunderstorm and some other warnings are retransmitted almost as soon as they are received.

I heard it myself. You must have just missed it.

You know what was really so frustrating about Ivan? Both WMFC stations were knocked off the air after Ivan due to power & tower problems. Once they did resume broadcasting about a day (or three) later, they went with local, and I mean LOCAL coverage pretty much all day for the next several days, allowing the Mobile TV simulcast to take over at night.

WFNU went off the air, stayed off the air, and when it finally resumed broadcasting, it did so with its automated format...and NO updates.
