Greater Media On iHeartRadio

Now you can hear WMGK, WMMR, Ben-FM, and The Fanatic (AM or FM) via the iHeartRadio app. Greater Media has signed a deal with iHeartRadio owner Clear Channel.

CC recently scored the Cumulus radio stations for its app.

Anyone think CC will approach Jerry Lee so that B-101 can once again be heard outside Philadelphia?

That's great, iHeartRadio is a great application and GM has some great radio stations!

iheartradio has really become a force in streaming audio. It appears to makes sense to align with them as opposed to "recreating the wheel".

I for one can't wait for the Cumulonimbus stations to end up on I-Heart Radio. As I mentioned on my Facebook page I can not get Microsoft's Silverlight to install on my computer and I can't listen to 2 of my favorite stations (which are owned by Cumulonimbus) I-95 (a great Classic Rocker) and Kicks 105.5 (a decent Country Station).

"Now you can hear" isn't exactly accurate. They're not up yet.

They're not up yet either.

If their presence in iHeartRadio means their eventual absence from TuneIn, then that sucks.

I own every streaming app there is I think....NONE compare even remotely to Tunein. Why CBS and Clear Channel block Tunein baffles me. You can still post the streaming URL and listen to their stations with Tunein anyway. Blocking Tunein equates to Jamming your own signal in an attempt to get fewer listeners.

How did you do that? Posting an URL to TuneIn to add it or put the streaming URL in your presets with 'add custom URL'?

They block it because you can pause the stream, or record it, and then skip commercials.

How do you find streaming URLs for CBS or Clear Channel stations to stick into TuneIn?

@John Holcomb: The Stream Center used to be very reliable, but these days, I notice that it's barely updated.

Also re: streaming URL's... you forgot that they can also end with "AAC_SC", though these may not play in Windows Media Player, unless you have the appropriate codec.

Hi there. I wasn't aware that TheStreamCenter wasn't updated. I know i've sent the guy a few corrections (WIP moving to FM) and something else forget what now, and they did update those.
Can you give me a few examples of stations that end with "AAC_SC"?
I have no idea how to add stations to TuneIn, but was giving somebody directions on how to get the channels at least directly streaming.
I thought some web radio's you could add streams manually like that so did my best to help.

LOL...well said. That's CC for ya: amazingly shortsighted sometimes.

Bumping this old thread because this has yet to happen, anything make the deal null?

CBS is wising up and putting some of their stations back on Tunein. The best internet radio APP! Here is a list of APPs I have. It has become a hobby collecting them:

Tunein: Every station in the world that streams unless blocked (I would never block my own signal.....)
Radio.com: CBS's improved APP to receive CBS stations and Yahoo music stations...This is now a very nice APP with 64K AAC streams that sound great in the car.
iHeartRadio: OK app but limited. Clear Channel stations (blocked from Tunein)...and maybe others jumping on the band wagon. Like the CBS APP, but not as good now that CBS is improving its app and stream quality, and has better stations to choose from in my opinion.
rad.io: APP from Germany fun to mess around with to find internet stations that have HQ streams....many many stations out there....you can also access these stations via......................you guessed it....Tunein!
Stitcher: Mainly for people who want to listen to podcasts.....(also available on Tunein). Live stations I have listened to on this app are in mono....don't understand the appeal for this app...it seems to want to control you.
radioPup: This is Townsquare Media stations. It's high quality as far as sound goes and you need it if you want to get Townsquare's stations, which are blocked from Tunein.
Jelli: Novel way to access (and control what plays on wMYsp 94.1 HD3 and their other stations)....WPST also runs a Jelli format....iPhone and computer access only.

Anyone know any other (multi station) APPS I can add to my collection?

News, talk and sports stations only. No music. Which is fine with me. WFAN is what I wanted on there.

Thankfully, the Greater Media stations are still on TuneIn in addition to being on iHeartRadio. I hope that continues.
