They've played nothing but U2 on St Patty's Day for at least the past couple of years. I love the station & the group but have never understood the attraction of this. I'm sure it's a sales tool but not sure what it means to them in terms of listenership. I doubt any WBOS listener is turned off by the group, but with the format being what it is & an audience more prone to be receptive to more than the usual familiar music, there's a world of music out there they can build St Patrick's Day programming on without going too far off the deep end. Any other suggestions or comments? The Chieftans alone have recorded a few CDs that were collaborations with many of the artists WBOS plays.
At least I know we'll hear the annual playing of Behind Blue Eyes by Roger Daltrey & The Chieftans on WZLX & somewhere someone will play The Unicorn (maybe Uncle Dale?).
