Green Bay Radio

Green bay has added KZ 104.3 so that has made the selection a little better. Not sure if you mean the format of the radio stations or the work environment of the broadcast companies themselves.

Most stations in the area are owned by three groups (Woodward, Midwest and Cumulus) so diversified programming is ignored and simulcasting stations is the norm.

Although five stations are sports oriented (there were as many as six, but one dropped ESPN because of the oversaturation), talk programming in the only news/talk station
takes second place to sports, so if you like talk radio, better switch to Sirius XM.

There is an exaggerated number of stations geared to oldies or classic something, but their playlists are always tight and boring.

The market lacks a rock station playing new and (expanded playlist) classic rock, a news/talk station catering solely to the genre and a new music station for grown-ups.

Just wondering if anyone out there in knowledgeable about the history of Green Bay radio. I notice that Mark Daniels' program, "The Fifth Quarter" is still running on WTAQ, leftover from the days when 1360 was WGEE. How many years has "The Fifth Quarter" been going, and is it a daily program, or does it just air during the football season? I'm not from that area, so that's why I was just curious.

...I think it actually is a holdover from when 1360 was WBAY(AM). They probably just ripped the idea for the title off of WGN-TV/9 Chicago's 10th Inning wrap-up that would run after Chicago Cubs games (post-Braves, pre-Brewers) on WFRV/5 in the '60s...
