Green Day, "Oh Love"

For everyone complaining about the lack of rock at CHR, this could just be the gateway for its return. This and the new No Doubt and Linkin Park songs.

The only problem here is that these are, by and large, 90s alternative bands that had some of their first CHR hits nearly 20 years ago. Their fans at the time are on the upper end of the demo, so most people in the demo probably don't have much of an attachment to these bands. Adult CHR and CHR leaning Hot ACs will probably be all over these songs, though.

Personally, I like the Linkin Park song, but I've heard much better from No Doubt and Green Day, so I don't see these songs gaining much traction at CHR.

Interestingly enough, I haven't heard the new Green Day song here in Greenville, SC. But since you mentioned it, the new Linkin Park and No Doubt songs are being played on our Hot AC station but not our CHR (yet).

So, I agree, these will probably be hits on Hot AC and Adult CHR -- at least before mainstream CHR.

I do think especially in the case of Green Day and Linkin Park, that the younger population still does have a liking for them compared to a band like Matchbox 20, which really was primarily hot in the '90s. Green Day's American Idiot and all of Linkin Park's songs from the Transformers movies gave them a big boost in recent years. Those "younger people" probably wouldn't recognize a song from "Dookie," however, even though it was a huge breakthrough album for GD.

Will you guys PLEASE get accounts on AllAccess so you know what you're talking about?

"Settle Down" by No Doubt is rocketing up the CHR chart, with a bullet over +1000

Will you please take this less seriously? Its just music charts. No one lives or dies off this stuff.

I hadn't seen this week's chart when I posted this. However, I see No Doubt possibly stalling out over the next few weeks, but I could be wrong.

That's the whole point of this forum - CHR music - and you can't discuss it when you don't follow it...

It's like trying to discuss baseball when you haven't watched a game all year
