How does Hot 98.1 sound? I recall it being more rhythmic and I haven't made a point of trying it when I go to the mountains.I think 107.5 KZL should take some pointers from WFBC B93.7 out of the GSP market by adding more hip-hop to their Playlist.
Hot 98.1 is a rhythmic CHR, but they do add hits from time to time that aren't charting very well on rhythmic, but doing well on CHR - recent examples would be "As it Was" by Harry Styles, "Flowers" and "River" by Miley Cyrus, "Bloody Mary" by Lady Gaga, etc. They seem to oscillate between how much they lean in to mainstream CHR hits, in the late 2010s it almost sounded like a mainstream CHR and played some guitar driven hits. How does Hot 98.1 sound? I remember when 98.1 played adult standards.
It was adult at one time. The station has been all over the road. But I think it was about as hard rocking as any area station when I was in college. It was not like WROQ in Charlotte. If I recall, KZL has almost always had an adult lean, hasn't it? I remember them playing more lower charting "adult CHR" songs than average, and more gold than average.
I agree 100 percent!Maybe it is a music problem. A lot of the CHR's are quite low. The music and yes, a bit of talent impacts its ratings. All in all, CHR/Top 40 music these days just sound awful.
