I remember WSMX with a directional antenna, 10 KW (D) and 1 KW during critical hours. When did they drop power and go non-directional? Someone mentioned them having to protect 1490 WLOE in Mayodan. WLOE actually is in Eden and is operated out of Mayodan with co-owned WMYN. WSTP in Salisbury also is on 1490 and is even closer to WSMX than WLOE.

It is a long story... Dj sets fire...Littigation with the FCC... Lack of monetary resources... etc,etc,etc.

That's night power! Can anyone hear that?

WEGO, when it was WTIX, also had night power during the day and I couldn't even hear a clear signal in some parts of the city.

they have to protect WFED (the old WTOP) out of DC, they will never have night time power
then there is WEAL 1510 the first adjacent in Greensboro and WLOE 1490 in Mayodan also first adjacent

so how did they go from 10kw to 140 watts..thats a big difference in power
