Greenville Needs a Hot AC

Does anyone else agree that Greenville could use a Hot AC station? I don't think Magic 98 can count as one, as Hot AC stations usually don't play 70s stuff and play more currents....Thoughts?

If you like Hot AC, then Greenville needs one because there isn't any... but I don't think it makes a great deal of sense for Magic to flip. They will have their hands full with their new stations. Look for an announcment this week on a poorly kept secret. They have reportedly sold Walk. As someone else said elsewhere on this board, there are indications that they will kill off Oldies on WGVC when they get their hands on it.

NO! WAIT! That can't be! Entercom LOVES Oldies!

Hey, Matthew. Wondered what happened to you. Yep, thanks for the tip. Well, Oldies is a format Entercom has in other markets. But inside information is hard to beat. Got any other tidbits for us?

Other than you, I have no good source about the format. But I do know for sure that Entercom sold Walk. I have friends in that market. From what I hear, an announcement should come this week.

Virtually ALL of Entercom's Oldies stations do well. 93-1/WMQX in Greensboro is an excellent Oldies station, owned by Entercom. Don't they also on KEYN in Wichita which has high billing/ratings also?

According to their website, it is still Oldies. I don't know anything about it except that it is 5th 12+.

Thats right if yo heard it from someone that works there it must be true...

Nah. I know it doesn't make it true. But someone who works there is more likely to know than someone who doesn't right? Besides, this is just a message board. Don't take my or anyone else's comments too seriously. You guys are doing a hell of a job over there by the way. Keep up the good work

In this case I'm afraid it is true.

That depends on when that was. The current GM has been there since March 2002.
I'm guessing it was during the Jimmy Vineyard administration that Oldies 103.3/103.9 was flipped to the ill-fated "All 80's" format.<P ID="signature">______________

I think the flip on 106.3 in Greenville is soon. "Jack" told me.

You must be right. Rumors were that the station sale would be announced this week and that Entercom plans to put the walk on 106.3. The first part turned out to be true, why would we doubt the second part?

That could be the case, but I'm hearing something is headed to Jack-land. Could be 106.3 or could they put WALK on 106.3 and flip 93.3 to Jack? Don't know, but I'm still confident Oldies is going away.

I just recently moved back to Greenville from Houston and I thought the same--that Greenville could use a Hot AC station. Houston has a Hot AC station
(KHMX). It's was okay to listen sometimes but they seemed to tweak their sound every couple of weeks.

Also, it seems there are many artists that we're not hearing on the radio around here (Jack Johnson is one name that comes to mind). I guess that's why I love my XM.
