Greenville ratings

The ratings for Greenville-Spartanburg are out (12+).

Country seems to be holding up about the same...News/Talk is strong...WMYI took a beating. WSPA dropped a little but is steady and actually placed ahead of WMYI. 98.1 popped up and now they're tied with WFBC who also took a big hit.

WBZT didn't even show up. That has never happened with that station (which gets around usually a .8 as Shine and 1.8-2 as Buzzard) before in this market. What a mistake.

Thoughts?

Less than 3 years ago, WMYI was #1 for the Fall and regularly Top 3. Now they're number 9.

WBZT is an example of corporate-think. "GSP is Bible Belt, so Christian Pop should work". Too many other factors, like the bond WLFJ has with listeners, were ignored.

WMYI is giving their audience over to WSPA at this rate. The sound of the station has really gone down this year especially. That's a steep drop, lots of factors playing in I guess.

Like I've said WBZT is closet run. Not much effort is in to it. Religious listeners want community interaction which WLFJ does. Very important for that format. They should go back to some form of rock, that seemed to do the best.

On a Greenville note: CC has stopped promoting USC football on 96.7. They were advertising on all 4 stations to hear it on Shine 96.7, now it's the same promo but now they just say Gamecock Radio Network. Why not promote the station to hear it on? Perhaps Shine could be gone by football season? The games haven't been updated on Shine's site. Wonder if they may finally put it out of its misery?

Sorry to reply to myself, but I had to ask..

Has anyone else noticed the drastic change in WMYI's playlist this week? Or is it just my imagination? It's sort of weird sounding. They've added a lot of songs, mainly from the 80s and 90s. Lots of slow 80s songs. They have cut back on the 70s songs a lot. I guess this is an effort to improve the ratings, but it certainly is a change. The flow of the music isn't very good.
