Greenville translator ---

--- that used to be on 106.5 is now on 106.9. Apparently, they were able to raise the power - which must be a disappointment to fans of "the ranch" on 106.9. Actually, the ranch is so weak in Plano I occasionally heard "The Point" from Houston overriding it in Plano. Now, "Sunny 106.5" is not covered up by the translator. It is listenable in the car through much of Plano.

So now you can hear another CC station...yipee ;) (wait, isnt 106.5 one of the ones up for sale?)
Of course KHPT is on a 2000ft tower northeast of metro Houston....which makes an easy trip right up I45 and the Trinity basin...(how many times has KDMX been covered up by Houston's 102.9 in the summer because of that?)

Sunny 106.5 is not a Clear Channel station. It's one of the former Waller Broadcasting stations that is now owned by Access.1 Communications.

Bruce, I think the potential for "Sunny" swamping the little translator was discussed here when an amendment to the original 106.5 application was filed. You're right about a power increase (from 140 to 250 watts), but they also moved closer to you. The translator (call letters K295BF) is now located a little northeast of Royse City. So it looks like the new frequency not only solved their KOOI interference problem but it also gives "Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer" expanded coverage (they rebroadcast 100-watt KYLP-LP 101.5 Greenville).

While the translator's move to 106.9 will block reception of KRVF, their tower is down near Kerens, east of Corsicana (about 68 miles away from Greenville and about 60 miles from the new translator site). As far as Greenville area "Ranch" fans go, that shouldn't be an issue since they can hear the programming on KRVA-FM 107.1 over in Campbell. That tower is just over 20 miles away.
