Greenwood Radio

I read on another thread that ALL of the stations in Greenwood are up for sale? Is this true? If so, certainly odd. Broomfield has 103.5 and 1090, Roper has 94.1 and 1450, then 92.9...any reason everybody's selling? They all sound good, I hope nothing changes really. WZLA sounds better than it used to now that Slammin' Gold/Oldies Radio/Classic Hits is gone, and I think WZSN has switched satellite feeds and it sounds better.

What's the scoop?

92.9 has been for sale for ages...

Jeff Roper's stations all for sale anytime for the right price.

Broomfield's Sunny 103.5 and ESPN 1090 has been for sale for awhile. Sunny 103.5 is using Waitt Radio Network's AC Pure format.

Oh, OK...you are a wealth of information, radioguy, lol.

Waitt's AC Pure will be merged with Jones' AC format on by 12/29. The one used on WRIX that "some" don't like.

WZSN sounds really good to be satellite.

I knew Waitt Radio's AC Pure merged with Jones..... but, unless anything has changed, Waitt Radio isn't sateltited.. it's voicetracks, uploaded directly to the stations computer.

I haven't given them a listen lately but I will tomorrow and see what it sounds like. I find it odd they use "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites" as a slogan....that is the name of ABC Radio's satellite AC format.

I GREATLY appreciate that Dave Fezler's local morning show on Sunny is consistent with the piped-in format musically, unlike some of the strange stuff 'ZLA comes up with. They seem to try and match the morning show music with the rest of the day, which is great. Many small town stations don't do that.

Who is doing WZLA"s morning show these days? It's not Boogie and I don't think it's Jane Cann......... they have studios right off the square in Abbeville.

I have no idea. I heard a guy on there a while back that wasn't familiar, didn't hear a name but he was talking to some other guy too. I don't believe Jane is doing mornings. Everything is off the bird except for 6-9? I think in the morning...last time I listened, the sound has gotten so much better with the new satellite, liners, etc.

Shelly Reid is the owner of WZLA-FM Oldies Z 93. Is it really up for sale? Shelly also owns the Rondhouse bar/Hot dogs on the Square there in Abbeville....Very nice guy. Is Jane no longer on the Z? She also works the Roundhouse sometimes.

Yes, WZLA is up for sale, as I said.. has been for years. It's listed with a broker out of Charleston, I think. I had Ronald (Shelly) Reid's brother Oscar tell me when I asked him point blank. They won't deny that fact, they just don't advertise it.

I do believe Jane isn't there anymore. When "Boogie" was fired, she moved from PM to AM drive for awhile, but I don't think that lasted long because I think she's a mother.. and I can't imagine many moms wanting to get up early enough to do a 6am show.
