Greetings from Chicago

I've been a member here for about a year but I've never introduced myself.

Hi, I’m Christian, or you can call me TMB. I’m a Gen Zer (Age 19) who’s heavily invested in listening to the radio, especially if I'm in the car. I don't work in radio, and I probably don't have any plans on doing so, but I am friends with a very popular radio host who does mornings on a national syndicated morning show.

That's amazing (someone that young, who likes AM-FM radio). Welcome to our forums. I live in Chicagoland myself (outside Hinsdale).

I miss when I lived in Ohio (8 years ago). The smaller, mid-sized cities offered so much. I could listen to Toledo, Detroit, and Cleveland in one day. 950 for news/information, 1520 was fun (while I was there), 1230 for sports, and countless, smaller stations for music. I would switch between AM-FM for certain stations. Some day, I will be back there (even if it's just to visit).

Depending on where you are in Chicagoland, it's hit or miss these days. There's very little to choose from. We lost too much over the last 10-15 years. It's not bad where I live (I DX a lot, and don't pay attention to the Chicago dial). It helps to be "out there," in the suburbs. I'm far enough west to get stations in Ottawa, past Aurora, Rockford, southern WI, etc. I love what's in Peoria and Central Illinois. I love the internet SDR's (really helpful and nice). I look forward to "Red, White, and Boom" this year. Even now...regular AM-FM radio has an impact on us.
