Greg Williams

Anybody see the Greg Williams interview on the Fox 4 Sunday night sports show at 10:00 PM? I saw a tease earlier in the evening but was unable to watch the broadcast. Anybody have a recap?

It was the usual Doocy stuff "So Greg what did you think about the Stars win", "So Greg, the Cowboys open minicamp next week, comment?"
Until the last segement.

Doocy asked him about not being on the Ticket anymore, and he said it was because of illegal drug use. Basically said he screwed up, he was being treated for depression and taking drugs and it got out of hand, etc etc.

I thought the most interesting thing- Doocy asked if he had plans to get back on the air, GW said yes, but that he can't talk about it. Doocy said something about 2 sports stations in town, and he's left one, and GW said might not be a sports station.

Sounds like a KLLI reference- can you see anybody else putting him on? Be funny if they moved Russ, and let GW go up against Ryhner.

Only funny because he would get killed.... I hear that ESPN is still in the loop, trying to find someone to work with him on the night shift.

ummmm....yeah

It would be funny if they moved Russ to overnight..he would find a niche there:0

Wherever greg lands, it'll be a good thing. The guy has a following and they will tune in no matter his flaws.

Did you see barry Horn's column last week? The Hardline's ratings were up in the first full book sans GW. If he's got a following, they haven't bothered to leave KTCK yet...

That's probably because all the lost sheep haven't heard Little Bo Peep on another station yet. We'll see what happens when GW lands another radio gig.

Just pointing out that the longer Little Bo Peep stays off the air, the less important he becomes to the sheep. The sheep are bonding with the new shepards so to speak.

As is, IIRC, he went off the air Octoberish. We're approaching 6-7-maybe 8 months plus since he's been off the air.

Read the Bob&Dan radio board, and the consensus is that GW was HORRIBLE on the air by himself. And while some sheep might prefer a certain type of food, there's a difference in that food as part of a balanced diet, and that food as the staple of the diet.

when/if he shows up (and I say if because how many companies are going to roll the dice on an admitted drug user that's been through rehab twice) we'll see how much of a following he has...

No offense - but taking anything posted on the bob n dan boards as anything other than extreme adolescent poppicock is a waste of time.

poppicock? that must be one of those new teenage terms. You know; like, Rowdydow, fallderall or even 23 skidoo!
1920's reporter guy.

Actually it's Poppycock (a "y" not an "i")

According to Webster, the word originated somewhere between 1840 to 1850.

Haven't heard "I want to apologize to all my fans out there'

As a fan of the Hardline, I can't think of a single reason for him to apologize... The show is as good now (arguably better) as it ever was with Corby taking up the slack. Greggo is greatness, but the only one he hurt was himself.

On a side note, now that they're airing Greggo drops (and his comments on Fox) it makes you wonder if he may be filling the 7p slot in place of the daily recap. Thoughts?

Never say never I suppose - but Rhynes and the Snake have made LOTS of snide comments about the husker since he's been gone. Can't imagine the old gray (-r?) wolf would allow it.

Richie Whitt wrote last week that GW's lawsuit with the Ticket has been settled. That is probably why we're hearing sporadic Greggo drops.

I think the quality of the OGW and Cobra show has gone down in quality since Greg left. Its a serious whipping to hear corby and rhynes talk about their personal lives and not about sport. Lets also not forget to mention Danny and Grubes, who have dragged the thing down into the basement when it comes to quality product. Without greg, The Hardline has become the radio equivelent of the AMC Gremlin, compact and not enough power in the engine.

According to Barry Horn's column last week (2 weeks ago saturday) the ratings not only didn't go down, but have actually gone up since GW's departure.

So why your opinion may be valid, it's obvious that the actual consuming public seems to disagree.

Damn listeners. How dare they disagree with the "experts" ::)
