Gregg Henson out at WPEN

I got an e-mail from Gregg this evening and he has posted the news on his website (gregghenson.com). He is leaving WPEN and headed back to Detroit to start his own business. Michael Klein also has a write-up about it on Philly.com.

Gregg says that Greater Media was very supportive during the process, so it sounds like this was brewing for sometime.

We hope to have Gregg on the show tomorrow night to find out more about this.

And here's the writeup:
WPEN’s Gregg Henson is out of here

Interestingly, there was a blurb on a Michigan-based media website that suggested Gregg was headed back to Detroit to work at Free-FM! Kyle shot down that rumor a couple weeks ago, and with this news about him starting his own business, that rumor is clearly wrong. Although the accuracy on predicting his return to Detroit can't be argued... "Starting his own business"... Wonder if he's gonna buy a radio station?

No offense to Gregg but I thought the morning show is/was bad. I was really hoping for a true alternative to WIP but just could not listen to Henson and Foley in the morning. That said, I do enjoy Tony Bruno and Jody McDonald. I have never cared for Rome and am not around to listen to the 700 level. Here’s hoping WPEN can take advantage of this opportunity and improve the AM drive and give us a true alternative to WIP.

Gregg will indeed be joining us on the Racket tonight to talk about this... Not sure of the specifics yet (time, temp, etc.) but it should be good...

The morning show, in my opinion, was finally getting there... Not saying it was anything for Cataldi to start worrying about, but I found it enjoyable and felt it was definitely headed in the right direction... So much for that now...

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what exactly Greater Media is trying to do with this station... I'll elaborate more tonight on the show...

Former WPEN-AM PD Gregg Henson to be on Radio Racket tonight

Be listening as Gregg tells us about his decision, and maybe what led to it. Will WPEN name a replacement in time for the guy to become the station's FOURTH PD in the past year? Most Racketeers already know what Kyle and I would do with the station. For those who don't, we'll spell it out again!
The show starts at 10 PM ET tonight.
