Gregg Labs Processor documentation wanted

Hi:

I own a Gregg Labs 2530 with no documentation and a 2540 (stereo AM) with xerox copies of the schematics, setup info and jumper info. I also have the sales flyer.

I am looking for any sales and technical documentation for the 2530. One meter does not work, so I am eventually looking for meter information. This unit also is missing the front cover that covers the controls.

I am looking for board layouts, parts list and any other info on the 2540. Extender cards would be great (yeah, not holding my breath!).

This is for hobby ham radio. Figured I'd ask..... :)

Greg O is now associated with Bob Orban and you could probably locate him via the Optimod site.

Ditto... Go through the company directory. Everyone I have ever encountered at Orban from Bob down has been very nice & helpful, so I am sure if Greg still has it, he will get it to you.
 
Hi:

I did contact Greg recently and had some good emails with him. He did supply me with some jumper PDF's, but has not finished his electronic version of the 2530 and 2540 documentation. Gregg is heavily involved in an exiting project (of which I am looking forward to seeing!) and does not know when he will get back to the 2540 documentation project as his time is very tight.

I am hoping that others here may have further information on the 2530 and 2540 in the meantime.

Are any of these still being used on the air these days. What are they, about 30 years old? I recall reading that he made about 50 or so 2550 FM processors toward the end. I think these had a orban stereo generator.
 
Some are... It still sounds great. I know they just took one off of WJMI in Jackson, MS about 6 months ago or so and put it on ebay. The bass on that box was incredible. It was great for that station. It fetched 3K on ebay.
 
I had one of the Gregg 2530's on the air in Pensacola in the early 80's doing country and it did sound good for it's time but even by the latter 80's there were better choices. I would doubt that any of those would be on an FM station but i've been wrong before.

In the latter 80's WTKX was running a Gregg 2550 and the bass was great but those are getting old and probally prone to failure. Might be a few still on the air. One way to get the "flavor" of a 2550 is through the Gregg presets in the modern Orban processors.

I chatted with the guy that was selling it on eBay, since the item location was Jackson, MS. I figured it was the Urban station. He confirmed. Told me that they put an Omnia in it's place (didn't say which model). I have not been back through to 'hear' the difference, but I will this weekend.

That station had a pretty signature sound with that Gregg box. They were also louder than anything in the market, so it was either overmodulated or received a healthy dose of composite clipping at the TX site.

Thanks for the link to the 2530 photos. At least I can see a block diagram there!

So maybe we can find other owners of the 2530 and 2540 to swap documentation. Now trying to figure out how to upload some photos of my 2540 AM unit.
