Greggo Blows Another Gig..

I just wonder what kind of money we are talking about. Was he offering 1200 a week and Greggo wanted 1500..or was this something totally ridiculous where he was already overpaying and Greggo wanted to be even further overpaid. Personally I don't see how they would have made any money at all. JCW is another radio hardon who overinflates the value of radio and probably walks around thinking everybody knows him and his Saturday infommercial...but the reality is nobody cares and noone other then us message boarders are even aware.

Unless they loaded it up with partner car dealership ads, I don't see how they independently were going to sell enough inventory to even cover Greggo's salry each week. JCW would have been better buying time on 990 or 1190 if he wanted to just flush money the drain..at least do it womewhat locally.

Wolfe was simply planning on placing Greggo in the afternoon drive spot on many small & middle market ESPN stations that are all in need of ratings & listeners (his station included). Greg is a star, when he's straight, and he's not if he's not. I don't know the "deal terms", but I do know that John and Greg were off "several hundred percetage points"

I think the smarter move would have been to negotiate a Tim Matthews circa late 90's to 2005 or so deal with the Ticket. ESPN were morons for putting greggo on from 7-10 where the show was constantly bumped for mavs, MLB playoffs, high school football, and every random un-listenable Cowboy show from a bowling alley...however a late night 11pm-2am type of show could work. The listener doesn't care who's actually paying his salary and I think for the limited cost for the time, I imagine a profit could be turned. And isn't that all that really matters...considering what the initial plan was to steamroll hick small town PD's into clearing the show. I'm pretty sure Tim Matthews wouldn't have done the show for so long if he or his partners were losing money. He did an ok show and always had a ton of various short and longer term sponsors.

I believe Dan Bennett and Cumulus would gladly cash that check for those hours if it meant the station made a dollar more then what would normally run.

Plus, let's face it, The Ticket (Hardline especially) can't go an hour without mentioning greggo.

If the Fan rejected a similar deal for their morning show, I think that too was a mistake by them...add that to the laundry list that's being compiled.

The greggo and bonaduce show is a no go?

WTH!

Seriously.. Why does anyone think Greg Williams can carry a talk radio show.

IN hindisght, he was clearly way over paid when he worked on the ticket.

Well, that's quite a bit.

Agree. I remember some days on the old Hardline when Rhyner would be gone and Greggy had to run the show. H.A.R.D T.O. L.I.S.T.E.N T.O. Meandered, kind of left it to everyone else to fill the air time, not very good.

Apparently the guy had a lucid period for a while where he came away with some good baseball stories and so on but those days are LONG gone.

He couldn't carry a show, he just has that star power for some reason. But it's true, here we are talking about it, it's on the observer, Gordon Keiths blog, and Unticket. Something about Greggy has a mysterical draw(l).

That's why Wolf was trying to find a replacement as 'Greggo's sidekick' when in reality he was looking for Greggo's lead man (handler), bc JCW knew he wasn't the guy for that sports lead role.
