Greggo blows it again....(Pun intended)

Anyone hear the Greggo meltdown on Tuesday? He was on the air with slurred speech and making no sense. The only thing that saved RJ Choppy and the station from more embarrassment was the show was only an hour due to Mavs game. As I hear it he was taken off the air for the rest of the week and future is in serious doubt. Despite his buddy Whitt saying that is was a medicine change please see: (http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/sportatorium/2009/05/greggo_explains_his_wacko.php) It was obvious that he was high as a kite. This on the heels on numerous absences, and several reports of strange behavior how is this guy still on the air? There was a time when ESPN motto was "Protect the Brand" under Pete Dits direction that seems to take a back seat to "Hey, I've heard of him, let's give him a show! Who cares what his history is!" Gee, so surprised! Another great move by the Giants at ESPN Radio.

I heard it. He was completely out of it. I think I'd rather hear Mike Fisher on nightly basis, anyway.

I'd love to have "Fish & Choppy" on every weeknight, even when they end up being cut short for games.
Mike would have a great perspective on Mav's game nights, and he knows EVERYBODY and their secrets.
The guy deserves a good show slot and a partner than can add, not detract, to the show.

Fish gets my vote.

Dead on Little1, Nothing as boring a Fish on Radio, That dude has been on the fringe for so long nobody knows who he is.... DallasBasketball.com? Come on what a rag, the only thing they are known for is breaking false rumours every trade deadline that NEVER come true, and this is a guy that is suppose to me tight with Cuban. The main thing here is to get rid of Greg "where is the Coke" Williams, as I hear it now HR got involved and I bet he is on a long review that has to happen before firing..... What a circus they run over there.

Anyone have a recording of this particular show? Be interested to hear it.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for punishment sometimes. ;)

I feel sorry for the guy. Addiction is a terrible burden. That said, unless he spends a long stint in rehab, I don't know why anyone would roll the dice on him right now. Not even 105.3.

The word now is that it is a done deal.... No More Greggo Period. Cut loose last Thursday. Close friends of his have been told he is shocked and has no idea why they fired him! This dude is in serious trouble. I hope ESPN takes a hard look at what is going on at 103.3 since Scott Masteller left, and Pete Dits took over....What a joke, hiring a confessed liar and drug addict is bad enough, but to let it go on until he pulls a act like that is a disgrace and people should be held accountable.

Held accountable for what?

They put him on when no one is listening with another spare host to see if the guy could keep his nose clean.

At one time he was a top talent. If he could have kept clean they could have moved him into a better time slot and maybe gotten some ratings out of it.

He couldn't, and the experiment is over.

Both people who were actually listening to their show that night will eventually get over the meltdown.

He was Never a top talent, he was carried by a strong show....Proven by the zero difference in ratings (actually went up) since he left.. My point was ESPN use to worry about image and now they hire anyone no matter what their past is: Irvin fired by National TV because of character concerns but hired by Dits, Nate who likes to make jokes about being a weed seller and his jail time, and now to top it all off...A doing drugs on the air addict. Nice Pete Dits, really nice....

Man, I would love to hear it. That having been said, I don't know how to feel about what happened to him. Addiction is a terrible thing and so tough to beat for so many people. But, then again, he's had so many chances.....

The Nate Newton situation bothers me more than Greggo. This wasn't some guy struggling with addiction; he was an outright trafficker. I still don't understand how he got so little jail time.

Well and let's not forget Irvin's Drugs, Hookers, and Murder for hire plot, not to mention stabbing a dude with Scissors and then paying him off! Nothing but good character guys "protecting the Brand" over at the old ESPN 103.3.....

Nate who likes to make jokes about being a weed seller and his jail time

From what I've heard, Nate Newton learned his lesson. I also hear that he speaks to high school kids about his life mistakes.

If the topic comes up, what else can he do besides joke about it?

Does everyone forget the failed "Fish For Lunch" or whatever it was on KLIF? He was awful back then and is a spare with Choppy who loves to hear himself speak. I think I would rather listen to Leon Simons with a strobe light on than Mike Fisher...
