Greggo comes out punching back at The Ticket

Well I wanted to check out the first segment of the new Greggo & Ritchie Show on The Fan and surprisingly it was a little interesting. Greggo talked about how it bothers him that The Ticket still plays drops of him and the fake Greggo. He also talked about how it bothers him that he has no relationship with anyone at The Ticket at all (he did say the Junior Miller did text him today to wish him luck). But he questions if the friendships at The Ticket was geniuine....Of course Richie was there to throw gasoline on the fire.

From reading the Observer article and the Ticket book, it's obvious that greggo had a drug problem and lied to his co-workers about it. I completely understand why they would be pissed at Greggo-what if his drug problem had caused the downfall of the Ticket? (i.e Hardlines ratings crumble w/o Greggo, they shift things around, that doesn't work, they slide further in the ratings, etc)...

But is the '****' on them to reach out to him, or him to reach out to them? Everybody I've talked to that's worked there says the Ticket strives for a very "us-vs-them" mentality. That you're either with them in the foxhole, or you're part of the enemy trying to take their ratings. As soon as Greggo went to work for ESPN, he became competition- not a freind-

And I'm kinda suprise Greggo claims this. He worked for Galloway. And how unmerciless has the Ticket been about portraying Galloway as "Grandpa Urine", a doddering old fool. Or how they abused Fisher once he went to work for KLIF, although he'd been a regular guest of theirs for years before that...

Yesterday and today seems to show that if you leave the Ticket under the right circumstances, the door is open for a return (See Chris Arnold's fill in yesterday), but screw up, and they're willing to cut you loose...Especially if you go to the competition...

So what you are saying is on his first day as a bona fide host on the lowest rated sports talk station in the market, in the first segment of his first show, he was bitching about his former employer treating him like a washed up hack. Hmmmm, this should last a while.
 
So, for those of us who don't care to go back and listen to archived audio, would someone care to share a Cliff Notes version of what it was exactly that R.G. Williams was ranting and raving about?

And mind you, I haven't kept up on the status of Greggo, haven't listened, don't care to, so on and so forth.......so I'm not certain if the guy has fully kicked his addiction to illegal substances yet or not. But it seems to me that if you're going to go around carrying a grudge against your former employer like this and spew forth venom and vitriol the first real on-air chance that you get, then you've still got some issues to work out. That or you're just looking for ratings.
 
I think it's funny. Finally the Fail has the guts to allow a broadcaster to comment off something besides 'fan text' and joe from burleson. Still waiting for Young Country to return in a blaze of glory though :-*

Richie says he heard a Greggo song on the ticket when he switched to it during a fan commercial on the way to work and they do it all the time. (yeah right, they break at the same time) Basically, they can’t get away from Hambonita, beacause he is so awesome and that is what keeps the ticket going.

Asks Husky if that hurts him and how he feels about it. Which it does hurt him because he thought they were true friends after 20 years. They do go on to admit that the Hammer nearly brought down the whole station and cost all of them their jobs, but they really should forgive and forget because they were friends.

What Richie left out was that the ticket played fake Greggo singing Alanis Morssette because it is her birthday today.

I give Greg a pass on this, in fact feel sorry for him. It was all Richie baiting him, wasn’t really venom at all. Richie and the fan are using him in a desperate attempt at ratings, just like BDH.

Thanks for the recap. I see your point about you thinking he was being baited, but I still don't feel badly for Greggo at all.

Definitely does sound like an attempt at scurrying up some ratings.

An attempt at something, Hell anything, to generate any buzz or ratings bump at all for that failed bag of suck. I don't feel for Williams at all nor do I care to listen.

He lied repeatedly and often on numerous occasions about multiple things to his co-workers and management at The Ticket. And they are supposed to be reaching out to him?
 
I've heard this talk of "compulsive lying" both on this board and the obserder. What's an example of a hosts lying that could cost all the other hosts their jobs? Or a first hand explanation of Gregs deep throat lying? I no comprende?

I've got friends that work there, and the 2 stories that stick in my mind are these-
in the early days of the Ticket he spun himself as having played minor leage ball. When in reality he never even played, even in college/

2nd has to due with weight loss. He was 'out sick' for a couple of weeks, suffering from some mysterious internal ailment that caused him to lose a ton of weight. When in reality he'd gone in and gotten either a gastric bypass, or a lapband, or whatever. Supposedly pissed off coworkers and mgmt, because they didn't know on a day-to-day basis if he'd be back (because he was just "out sick") and they were scrambling everyday to fill that spot, cover for him, etc.
 
I believe that Richie Whitt is a poisonous guy. He seems to bring up and/or prod Greggo at every turn in regards to the past--no matter the subject. We're only on day two, and already Greggo has said that he never claimed to have played minor-league ball (but that "it makes a good story"). This was spurred on by Whitt's calling him out on it in regards to a a topic that was completely unrelated. However, according to Whitt's Observer article Greggo admitted to the lie--that it was par of his self-esteem issue; so either it was a point that Richie brought up in order to rid that particularly ugly scab on a sports commentator's *viz., his new partner's* 'resume,' or it was perhaps/in addition a ploy to stir the pot and thus potential ratings. [ii] I cannot, for the life of me, see why the Ticket guys are seen as the villains vis-a-vis this b.s. (?). Both Richie and Greggo speak of 20 and 14 years of friendship with the Ticket people: "Was it real?" "Gee, I don't know" claims Greggo (prodded on by Richie's, how should we say, "impartial" line of questioning/leading the "witness"). But what about purposive and serial deception? Does that not count for anything? If it doesn't count for much, then perhaps Richie ought to make amends with his ex-wife--who evidently purposely and serially deceived him. I *won't* get into here the overt "co-opting" of old Hardline segments and ideas (i.e., the reworking of the "Two-Minute Drill").[/b][/b]
 
They're using Greggo like the cheap whore that he has become. It's a freakshow at the circus, and it's short lived.
 
I actually think Greggo sounds great and a tad excitable.

They have me now when he is on, I think Greggo has great HSO on Dallas.

Why would anyone deny the guy another opportunity. I hope you all get as many chance, couldn't we all us more chances?
