groove 105.7 better than Q100

Even though I live in Charlotte now...i have to stay true to my roots and check up on the ATL board every now and then. Since Charlotte has a very limited selection of radio stations I tune into ATL stations on my Samsung phone.

groove 105.7 is a pretty good station....even tho its r/ac it still sounds way more top 40 than q100 ever has....that takes a lot for me to say b/c I have been a fan of Q100 since inception...but Q100 as everyone knows is not a chr at all.

What do you guys thinnk? is groove a better station musically than q100? to me it seems they are goin right after q100....i love the commercial free mondays on 105.7 also....has cc finally done something right

CC’s Atlanta cluster is in flux right now.

There will be some kind of change soon to all of the stations. I think 105.7 is not at the top of the list of changes but unless there is some improvement in the ratings this will not last long. Enjoy it while it lasts.
CC's ATL cluster has been fluxed for a while. Does anything ever really change on the flights between ATL and San Antonio?

As bad as the old sound of 105.7 was, I personally liked it better than the current.
If I was 25 I might like it. Anyway, realized that button was going to waste on my
car stereo, so Kiss 104 is back on it now (already had Majic on another button).
Oldies 106.7, River 97.1, B98 and Rock 100 give me variety on the other presets.
If all are lame, I'm scanning.

What does Del Core being fired in 2006 have to do with today?

It just shows how "dead in the water" CC's ATL operation is. The current manager (I forget the name) will suffer the same fate. If CC want to be competive (and make serious money) in Atlanta, they are going to have to find someone who can program on a shoestring of a budget, and come up with something original rather than the "CC bag of formats", which do not seem to work in Atlanta. One of CC's two main FM's (94.9 and 96.1) should be in the top 10 12+, Not just second or third in most demos. My main thought is CC had better fix the main FM's, then worry about a Rimshot that should tied to 640 AM.

Sorry but, for the FIRST TIME ALL MY DAYS OF LIVING HERE, Q100 is FINALLY sounding like a more well-rounded CHR these days. Lots of the "slightly" more dance-pop and urban music is being played (even during daytime). I still CANNOT say that it's totally a PURE CHR but, it's hell of a lot better! Oh, yeah! (as if I still don't a beef with Q).....Can anyone tell me why Q100 seems to totally snub anything JAY-Z? Q100 has NEVER ONCE played, "Empire State Of Mind" which was such a MASSIVE hit and is still played everywhere else. And his latest, "Forever Young" has been out, now for months and still, Q assumes it doesn't exist. Any thoughts?

Q100's music has gotten a lot better. It's much closer to a real CHR than a year ago.

As long as Star 94 is around...Q100 will continue to shun hip-hop. Once Star 94 flips...then things for Q100 (and the other Cumulus CHRs) might change.

As for 105.7...they are adding songs as they are being added to CHR stations, despite being classified a rhythmic AC. Groove 105.7 is playing the new Christina Aguilera single "Not Myself Tonight". They also are playing the new Kesha song "Your Love Is Like A Drug". For all intents and purposes, 105.7 can be classified as a competitor to 95.5 The Beat as a rhythmic CHR.

Our "rhythmic ac" (KMVA) plays Christina Aguilera and KE$HA's latest hits, too...
QUESTION IS: Any Drake action going on at Groove? Any Bedrock action happening? Actually, I need to find out the call letters of this Groove stations because obviously it is interesting, but it's the only station I've never really checked out.

As far as Q100 playing more hip hop eventually, well they better hurry up because believe it or not, the hip hop era is still in the closing processes. I think one thing kind of "helping" Q100 (when it comes to the wishes of people on this board) is the fact that most of these new hits are very pop / electro-pop leaning hits that are safe to pass by as "non-hip hop hits that Q could gladly play". Therefore, they are sounding more versatile as a result. I wonder if half of those hits would still have made it if they sounded the way things did in the mid 00's?

I do notice the lack of some "my chick bad" and "how low" action going on from their hometown artists Ludacris on Q100.. In some ways, seems like Q100 is following the old Star*94 formula, where every other song played was pop rock / alternative sounding (Example: alternative, pop, alternative, dance, alternative, pop, alternative, r&b, ......etc).

I'm guessing that if it's this difficult to get a traditional top 40 there, then somebody must know something that we don't know, or we are on some extended multi-decade edition of Punk'd or candid Camera or something because it all kind of doesn't make sense, especially when people IN radio have been mentioning it and the view counts of those posts indicate somebody is seeing it. Is it really true that no one really wants to hear a rhythmic leaning top 40 in Atlanta, just strictly rhythmic OR pop rock leans?

WWVA FM, WWVA is in Wheeling WV. Use to be a big time country station even have a live music show, with with thier signal a large following in Canada at night. WWVA is now a CC cookie cutter talk station.

I do admit that I like the fact they are playing the group who re-sung "one more time" by Daft Punk on Q. It kind of makes up for the lack of Pitbull being played. Anyone can just play "calle ocho".

That was a classic. There are probably recordings of that flying around the Web.
