Groove 105.7

So Groove 105.7 has premiered. Bye Bye Viva. I hardly knew ya. The intro said they will be Atlanta's all hits station. First song "Into the Groove" - Madonna

It is some kind of weird mix of the old site and the new site?

2nd song - Shake you groove thing - PEaches and Herb

3rd Song Groove is in the heart - DeeLite

How many groove songs are there I wonder.

It's a similar format Clear Channel has launched in Detroit (the Beat at 106.7) and Philly (My106.1). It also has templates in Miami and New York.

Clearly, the effort is to appeal to adult women 25-54 of all races who like to (or used to) cut it up in the clubs.

The first hour:

"Into the Groove" by Madonna (1985)
"Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches & Herb (1978)
"Groove is in the Heart" by Dee-Lite (1990)
"Let's Groove" by Earth , Wind & Fire (1981)
And the first song without the word "groove" in it: "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce (2003)
"Stayin' Alive" by Bee Gees (1977)
"Gonna Make You Sweat" by C&C Music Factory (1990)
"I Gotta Feeling," Black Eyed Peas (2009)
"Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" Michael Jackson (1980)
"Rock Your Body" Justin Timberlake (2003)
"Let the Music Play" Shannon (1984)
"Best of My Love" the Emotions (1977)
"Just Dance' Lady GaGa (2008)
"When Doves Cry" Prince (1984)

I like it! Reminds me a little of the way 95.5 sounded when it first came on the air untill Cox destroyed the Beat. Best of luck to 105.7 I'll listen often.

If CC is smart which can be debated sometimes while the other stations are doing Ho Ho tunes they should stick with what they are doing... CC made that mistake with Kiss 93.9 in the RDU area and they shot their self in the foot... Let the grooves play and they will come... CC1

SO NOT IMPRESSED!

Sorry, but this was a bit of a dissapointment. Old-skool R&B mixed with Adult Contemporary....(great)
Now watch...95.5 The Beat will start adding older hip-hop. Then we still have Q100 and Star 94 playing mostly RECURRENT/ ROCK-AC....(as CHR's). Not good at all.

(THANK GOD, FOR SiriusXM's "20 on 20")

I love it, it sounds great. Maybe b98.5 will wake from the DEAD now, get rid of Deliah.
This sounds like a real top 10 market station, alot of energy, reminds me of the old MAX, only better. I don't like cc usually, but maybe this will work for a few years. I am sick of all Atl stations playing the same stuff, way too much urban, star is a joke, 95.5 is still new, the river is a joke, and true oldies has left a bad taste in my mouth. They really need to do some re-vamping..

Just saw (on dvr) Groove 105.7 ran a TV ad on Oprah's show in the 4 o'clock hour on WSB 2.

Nothing special, just the standard crappy radio ad showing some artist (rihanna, britney, pink, JT) with Black Eyed Peas and C&C Music Factory playing in background.

I'll gladly take a new station that's not Spanish and one that playing some Top 40, but isn't this just the "moving" format we saw come and go like 4 years ago?

The HD-2 channel is no longer spanish. I did not listen long enough to get a feel of what they are doing but the music seemed in line with the main channel.

I think this format has a chance. The bad thing is the signal north of Atlanta is on the weak side, but clearly an attempt to pull listeners from several stations. I wonder if they'll have a local on-air staff or not. I can see this format playing in hair salons, nail salons, and a lot of offices in town.

they will probably have Paul "Cubby" Bryant in the mornings and Jagger in the afternoons
