Ground radials

In a directional multiple tower field, why does the FCC want you to put tower ground radials in the direction of a null? I thought the object of pattern was to stop the signal going in the direction of the null?

Ah, the black arts of directional antenna arrays. :sneaky:

Previous answers nailed it, but your tower array (how they are positioned in the field) is how that null gets generated.
