Ground repeaters off the air

I just got off the phone with Sirius complaining about not having a ground signal
in Wilmington DE. The CSR told me the FCC was making inspections of the ground repeaters 'all along the East Coast' and the repeaters were off until the inspections could be completed. I work in Philly and know the repeaters are working fine there.
Is anyone else on the East coast having problems getting a ground signal where they used to have one?

I saw elsewhere on the Web that the Wilmington repeater and one of the four Philadelphia repeaters are offline until they can get special FCC clearance to come back on. Apparently, they weren't operating completely within their specs.
Unless all the repeaters were turned off within the last 24 hours (and I doubt it), that Sirius rep gave you a little bad info. Check out these Web sites for updates: siriusbackstage, orbitcast and getsiriusinfo.
Reception in the western Philly burbs was particularly bad for me this morning. But, I've also found that there are just some days that are worse than others AND that anytime there is more moisture in the air - rain or just high humidity - the signal quality goes down.
I can't wait for the leaves to fall off the trees in another few weeks. My reception is always measurably better during the winter than the late spring, summer or early fall.
This is my biggest complaint about Sirius. However, we also have an XM vehicle, and XM has reception problems, too.

Thanks for the info Radiophiler. I'm fairly new to Sat. radio and wasn't familiar with the other web sites. I guess my luck would be really bad if the repeater at my home and work place both went off but at least I can still hear Sirius at work and in my car. I have both XM and Sirius and don't have many reception issues since I'm on I-95 most of my commute from Del. to Philly. On weekends it is different story since I travel alot in Chester Co. PA and lose the signal every time I pass under a tree. I'm looking forward to Winter for better reception.

On October 13, 2006, Sirius made a request to operate 11 repeaters. Its a rather curious application. It states that the 11 repeaters are not currently operating. It also states that 10 of the 11 were operating at or below its authorized power and that all but one was operating within 10 miles (~half within 2 miles) of its designated location. Some of the 11 have issues with beamwidth, orientation, sectorization, or height. Sirius shut these 11 repeaters down and is now requesting authority to resume operation of these 11 repeaters.

The repeaters that were shut downhttp://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/servlet/ib.page.FetchAttachment?attachment_key=-117714 are in Akron; Atlanta; Greensboro, NC; Harrisburg; Knoxville; Monterey, CA; Orlando, Pebble Beach, CA; Philadelphia, Lansing, and Wilmington.

this site is pretty much up to date on fcc issues and trade marks for new devices its worth book marking http://satelliteradiotechworld.blogspot.com/

this is the new request to operate the 11 repeater again

Well, I guess reception varies greatly depending on the exact location within the same metropolitan area.
I live in Lower Merion. The signal around here has been pretty bad ever since the info about one Philly repeater being shut down. I can only imagine it's the one closest to the western suburbs as opposed to the northern and eastern burbs.
I hope they get that repeater back soon. They need to fill in some pretty bad reception areas between Ardmore and Gulph Mills.

I set my transmitter to 87.9 and I have no problems 100% clear!! and I diive all over bensalem, bristol, levittown and philly 100% clear
