Members of Band Alabama to Headline Katrina Benefit Concert
MONTGOMERY – Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries Ron Sparks, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, and Governor Bob Riley have announced a benefit concert for disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina on Thursday, September 8 at 7pm in downtown Montgomery. The concert will be an evening of acoustic entertainment featuring members of the group Alabama Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, and Jeff Cook. “Having grown up with these guys, I am not surprised by their generosity in donating this performance to provide funds for disaster relief,” said Commissioner Sparks. “The River Region has already provided so much assistance for victims in Alabama and also for the refugees who were able to escape the most disastrous areas. I hope they will continue to help by being a part of this special event.”

Proceeds from the event will go to the Governor’s Golden Rule Fund that helps victims statewide through the Red Cross, the Mayor’s Fund that will directly help refugees in Montgomery through United Way, and the Ag Commissioner’s Relief Fund that will provide resources for farmers in Alabama.
The cost of admission is a monetary donation at the door. For more information, please contact Scott Absher at 334-240-7105.
