Grundig traveller 2 g8

No, not very. For whatever reason, the SW band gets lots of images in some of the G8s. In those, you need to keep a finger on the antenna for those to go away. Even still, the performance on SW is just fair - LW is there, but apparently forgotten. Only the strongest LW signals will be heard. The G8 is best for AM and (especially) FM reception.

By the way, Tecsun actually did address these issues with the PL-310 - which has good SW and LW reception as well as sharing the outstanding performance on AM and FM that the G8 offers.

Is this a good radio for SW?

The old Grundig Majestic is the best for SW; however, you need to be able to get the old tubes for the old Grundig Majestic. That old stuff just doesn't wear out when it comes to quality.

radioman148, I think the G5 may be slightly more sensitive on medium wave AM than the G8, based on early observations. I just bought the G8 to replace the four-year-old Eton e5.

The G8 is more selective, but it tends to mute out the very weakest of signals (something they've supposedly fixed with the PL-380). Given that, the G5 is a bit better.

The Tecsun PL-310 allows you to select MW bandwidth (1,2,3,5,or 6 kHz). That's a very helpful option that I wish more portables had. It still has the muting, but not as pronounced as the G8 - so it's at least as good with MW as the G5, IMO.

That's good to hear...I just ordered a 310 today. Has anyone compared the 310's AM/FM sensitivity to the Superadio II?
