It will definately be interesting over the next few books to see how things shake out -- particularly with 96.7 and 98.5 since Chuck has been around for a while now and is doing quite well (although it's difficult to see where they're pulling those shares from).
I say those numbers are mainly coming from Magic and Rock 101, overall. Magic used to do better than it does these days, and My's shift away from Mainstream AC did nothing to help them while not helping MY either. Magic got around a 6 share, sometimes more at times just a couple of years ago and MY was doing decently also. I would say Chuck has taken some of the market's older (once) AC listeners and perhaps some off of Rock 101. Chuck plays the 70s and 80s music the AC's have moved away from. Those are the only two stations ChuckFM shares any sizable amount of playlist with.

The Planet stands to lose the most IMO. They're already doing poorly and as you mention just a share could have a big impact. Seeing how well Chuck has done even on a translator, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 98.5 pull a share and maybe eventually 2 or so. There is some direct overlap with The Planet, but also a much broader spectrum of rock. With 93.3 doing little to improve its playlist, I can see them going nowhere else but down. MY has much less overlap, but as mentioned earlier in the thread, I do think there may be some listeners who were listening just to hear at least "some" new rock....and those may now go to X98.5 as well.
Agree. Could X help nail The Planet's coffin? I doubt Planet will ever go anywhere, since it's stuck around in its horrible state for so long, but their days of sometimes topping a 4 share might be over next year.

The Road (96.7) is perhaps the most questionable. I haven't listened to them much, but from what I've heard, I don't know if there's enough to differentiate them from Rock 101 other than having no on-air personalities. Many may question WROQ as also having been stagnant over the years, but they still do well.
I don't really listen to them either, but it's marginal. National feed with little localization. Well selected, safe music. It's somewhat of a wildcard.

Of course, there's also the big looming question of what will happen with X98.5 and Chuck when Cox eventually sells its assets in the area. I can't see how any potential buyer would want to do anything different with those stations. As has been mentioned in other threads, there's little overhead. Guess the question would be programming since Cox would no longer be providing the feed (which I still don't know how much is being done at a corporate vs. local level for the two stations).
I still say nothing. I have noticed that Cox's 103.7 Chuck FM in Gainesville is in complete sync musically with 97.7 in Greenville (which was around first). I don't know of another Cox Alternative station that sounds like X, so I'm guessing it is done locally. There could always be adjustments here and there, but I see no reason or benefit for a potential new operator (if there is ever going to be one) to can those two frequencies. There are few to no negatives of running them but tons of positives.
I also agree with your comment, freqdev, that we will see a juggle. We are actually seeing one already. Not sure if Planet will move any as far as position since it has always been last, and will likely stay that way now with X, but Chuck can continue to eat away at Rock 101 and Magic which could keep them down a few notches than in books past. As far as MY is concerned, though, I wish I could be more optimistic about their prospects but the changes they made last year look like they've been a wash. I personally hope the station stays around.
