GSP Winter ratings

The Winter book for GSP came out yesterday:

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb191

Not a lot of substantial changes, but Hot 98.1 and Magic both took big dives (5.6 to 3.9 for Hot and 5.2 to 2.8 for Magic).

And "Man Up" WROO just has an N/A. I know it had posted .5 in the latest trends. Does that mean ROO didn't even get enough to register in the full book?

It was an odd book for the stations that target the AC/adult hits demo overall. The combined total of Magic/Chuck/Earth was just 6.6. Contrast that against 8.9 in the Fall. Maybe the Christmas music period hurt Magic, but if so, where did the rest of those ratings go?

Yes because iHeart still subscribes to the books so if it registered it would be posted...

Hot 98.1 has the most fluctuating numbers I've ever seen

Maybe these numbers explain why Magic has been in a tailspin musically...we have it on here at work and seems like they have almost daily tweaking and they've really expanded the 80s music and have started back playing music from the 70s - they used to have the same exact 200 song playlist for almost a year. Whoever is running things there is really trying...

For the first time in ages, maybe years, My102.5 actually passed WSPA FM which is really no feat because the stations are in no way similar anymore. My1025 played "Low" by FloRida and TPain yesterday. Definitely trying out new sounds there. I still predict the station will segue in to a CHR eventually which would be fun because it'd be a 3 way battle and iHeart does a very good job against established top 40s.

That would be Dave Jackson working on Magic. It was doing well in recent books but maybe tinkering to work in more 70s/80s was an attempt to grab some of Earth's audience that isn't working. Or just the weird off book

Chatting with an insider over at Entercom. I did not know that apparently the tower for Magic was hit by an ice storm and they were running at 1/4 power for much of this book. That explains the surprising and sudden drop.

that is funny none of the other towers in the mountain areas were hit by an ice storm 1/4 power is still enough to cover the market ask an engineer

I have no idea. Main reason I believed it was that it seemed like an awfully big drop. The station has been beating MY fairly regularly and a 2.8 is totally out of sync with Magic's recent books.

Guess we'll see in the next book as the tower was supposedly repaired in March.

It wasn't necessarily the power but the height. The aux antenna caused LOTS of shadows in downtown GVL area - and the HD xmtr was knocked off, too.
