Guaranty exits Houma/Thibodaux

Behold, ladies and gentlemen.

The buyer? Sunburst Media. They owned stations in Texas (mainly up near Dallas/Ft Worth) up until the mid-90s, when they cashed their chips in, mostly to Salem and Hispanic. They re-entered the radio ownership business this past summer when they bought a Phoenix move-in and flipped it to next-gen standards... think Red... 104.1 (St Louis), not 93.7. ;)

This leaves Baton Rouge as the last remaining Guaranty cluster.

Yeah but for how long? Guaranty has now sold all it's holdings within the last two years except Baton Rouge..wonder how long before one of the majors come calling (like Entercon?)

This leaves Houma/Thibodaux with only 2 local owners and one of those is in jepordy (KTIB).. The other is KLEB-Am Golden Meadow.

From what I see, Sunburst mainly is getting back in radio with only an agreement for the station in Arizona which from what I can tell is a oldies station according to it's website (unless you have more recent information I don't....) I see one of the officers however holds some property in Texas however.

But anyhow, Personally IMO, look for the country music to stay (KCIL 107.5) as well as classic rock (KXOR 106.3) as they are two of the most popular stations in the area but could we could see a flip of frequencies?!? .. But only two questionable is KJIN 1490 and KBZZ 96.7 that are broadcasting sports and as of late a rebroadcast of KCIL respectively.

All the stations basically can't move due to become New Orleans rimshots IMO except maybe KCIL and KBZZ and that would be questionable.... I bring it up due to what I read of them bringing in stations into the D/FW market as rimshots.

107.5 is already hemmed in from coming north by country ledgends 107.3 in Baton Rouge and WHMD 107.1 hammond but could possibly move to Larose and do like KLRZ to the city (which was something planned and actually a Cp were issued on about 10 years ago for)....

106.3 can't move due to 106.1 Picayune

96.7 can't move east unless it's squeezed played in closer to Houma/Thibodaux due to WEZB 97.1 but not by much...

Dunno what to make of it personally and affects me the most as it's most of the main stations for the area , but what's everyone's opinion on this?

Also Stelly, Still working on the site I see:)

From what I've heard, it's been on people's radars for years. They were just waiting for Guaranty insurance co. to decide to get out of radio....

I said Entercon as every other major cluster in NOLA has a BR cluster except Entercon and would make for a great new home if another Hurricane comes.

Dunno as Soft Rock 96.7 was still on a ad in today's newspaper for a local event.
I do know that the audio seems to be dropping in and out a bit sometimes on the 96.7 signal...

Roughly Wednesday October 26th, KBZZ went back to programming Soft Rock after broadcasting a few weeks of sister mate KCIL.
