Is their no one out there who has tv guides from January 1965 for Detroit?
I am intrested in the history of WKBD Channel 50 from about 1965 to about 1968. Also, while I am making this post, are there any airchecks of WDTV in Pittsburgh or stations like WIIC and Early KDKA and WTAE from the late 1950's up on the web?
I am also looking for old news theme music from about that same time.
My purpose is to create days of old television compleet with ids and news breaks and full newscasts from the 1950s as best as I can using my DVD collection.
Thanks Mike

Go to YouTube and look. Look for people that post this kind of stuff and ask them. A lot and I mean a lot of this stuff get's pulled quickly for copyright issues. And you can save YouTube stuff if you know how, but that is a good place to start.

Also since you got some stuff put it on YouTube, nothing encourages people to share than when the see you have some stuff to start with. But check often, cause it gets pulled fast in some cases.

speaking of You Tube...a co-worker of mine a few months back uploaded a video on You tube of a 1975 WBFF-TV Baltimore newscast. Not only did WBFF pull that clip but she claims that WBFF sent her a private email through You Tube telling her to pay them $1500 for violation of copyrights otherwise WBFF has the right to sue her. She called up WBFF and they wouldn't discuss the matter over the phone, only in person ( she lives in Virginia ) and You Tube has yet to respond to her emails about the situation.

I always thought that those who own the copyright are not allowed to directly contact those who had uploaded their clips, only You Tube?

The best way to deal with that situation is let it be known far and wide what WBFF or any other station is doing as far as threatening to sue people. I would let their advertisers know what they are doing and tell them that since they have decided to advertise on such an evil station they will no longer buy their products and will advise their friends, family, etc. not to purchase their products? Wanna see how fast the stations back down? Another route is when their license comes up for renewal with the FCC is have a bunch of people file complaints. Nothing may happen but you might make them sweat bullets for a bit.

There were also some old WIIC airchecks used as part of the WPXI 50th. Anniversary Special last fall. I believe the video is still linked at wpxi.com. I have seen stills but never an actual air-check from WDTV, and have never seen either for the short-lived WENS-TV 16.
